Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Coming out of Southern Miss., Brett Favre was drafted early in the second round in 1991 by what NFL team?

Answer: Atlanta Falcons

This falls under the "what were they thinking" category. Actually, knowing that Brett doesn't play nearly as well in a dome, who knows what his career would have been like had he stayed in Atlanta.
2. Coming out of Stanford, John Elway was drafted first overall in 1983 by what NFL team?

Answer: Baltimore Colts

Elway was drafted by the Colts but refused to play for them, and said that he would consider leaving the sport entirely to become a MLB pitcher instead. So of course, the Colts traded him to the Denver Broncos and the rest is history.
3. Coming out of Brigham Young, Steve Young was drafted in 1984 in the supplemental draft by what NFL team?

Answer: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In 1984, there was another league competing with the NFL for the best college football players called the United States Football league (USFL). He ended up on the USFL's team, the Los Angeles Express, but did not sign after six games into the season and entered the supplemental draft instead.
4. Coming out of Ole Miss, Eli Manning was drafted first overall in the 2004 draft by what NFL team?

Answer: San Diego Chargers

He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers, then immediately traded to the New York Giants for Philip Rivers and draft picks. You cannot knock his play though because he is a Super Bowl champion. One thing that I am looking forward to, is a Manning Vs. Manning Super Bowl.
5. Coming out of Alcorn State, Steve McNair was drafted third overall in the 1995 draft by what NFL team?

Answer: Houston Oilers

Steve was an amazing college player at any level, but especially for 1-AA ball. When he received his signing bonus, the first thing he did was build his mother a new home. How sweet.
6. Coming out of Nebraska, Eric Crouch was drafted in the third round in the 2002 draft by what NFL team?

Answer: St. Louis Rams

He was drafted by the Rams and was thought to not have a strong enough arm, and was forced to play WR. He then refused and was released, then picked up by the Green Bay Packers who tried the exact same thing with the same result. Later, he became a quarterback for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

His most notable accomplishment was winning the Heisman Trophy in 2001.
7. Coming out of West Virginia, Marc Bulger was drafted in the sixth round of the 2000 draft by what NFL team?

Answer: New Orleans Saints

Bulger was drafted by the New Orleans Saints, then he spent some time with the Atlanta Falcons and St. Louis Rams' practice squad. He later became the Rams' starting QB.
8. Coming out of Indiana, Trent Green was drafted in the eighth round of the 1993 draft by what NFL team?

Answer: San Diego Chargers

He then played for the Washington Redskins, where he met an offensive genius named Mike Martz. They were reunited in St. Louis and won their first Super Bowl together on the sidelines.
9. What round was Tom Brady drafted in by the New England Patriots in 2000?

Answer: 6th

Brady was drafted out of the University of Michigan, and took over the starting job for New England in 2001 when Drew Bledsoe was injured. Despite being such a low draft pick, he later became owner of three Super Bowl rings, and an undefeated regular season.
10. Coming out of the University of Las Vegas, Randall Cunningham was drafted in the second round of the 1985 draft by what NFL team?

Answer: Philadelphia Eagles

Randall played for the Eagles for 10 consecutive seasons. He was also a part of the 1998 Minnesota Vikings team who had a regular season record of 15-1, but was upset in the playoffs by the Atlanta Falcons.
