Jack Brabham (1926-2014) Won the title in 1959 and 1960 and in 1966 he became the first driver to win the World Championship driving one of his own cars.
2. The first American-born World Champion.

Answer: Phil Hill

Phil Hill (1927-2008) won the World Drivers Title in 1961 driving a Ferrari. He also scored three wins in the 24 hours of Le Mans race.
3. He was born in modern day Croatia and won the drivers title in 1978.

Mario Andretti was born in1940 in Istria which was at that time part of the Kingdom of Italy (this changed after WWII). He also won four IndyCar Titles plus the Daytona 500 (1967) and Indianapolis 500 ( 1969).

He won all four with the Indianapolis 500 (1966), Le Mans (1972) , twice Formula 1 Drivers title and five victories in the Monaco Grand Prix.
