1. Baseball

Answer: Mound

Baseball is played on a field. However, it is the pitcher that stands on the mound to start the game by throwing the baseball to the catcher and trying to beat the batter. The mound is an artifical hill and on top of the mound is a white rubber plate and from the front of it to the rear of the home plate the distance is exactly 60ft 6inc(18.44m).

Australian Rules Football is played on a grass oval field. The size of the grass oval differs but does range from 135-185 metres in length to 110-155 metres in width. The size of the most famous football ground in Australia is the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) measuring 171m x 146m and has a capacity of 100,000.
3. Cricket

Answer: Pitch

Cricket is played on grass fields that vary in size from ground to ground. However, the pitch where the bowler and batter do battle is a rectangular area 22 yards in length and 10 feet in width (20.12m by 3.05m). The size of the actual ground can vary but it's diameter can be from 137m and 150m.
The home of cricket is Lord's cricket ground in a London. The playing field is approximately 137m x 120m.
4. Polo

A grass polo field measures 300 yards long and 160 yards wide (275m by 145m). There are two teams of four riders and the playing periods consist of six chukkas (playing periods of seven minutes with intervals of three minutes). Between the players they use approximately 50 horses throughout the game.
5. Lawn Bowls

Lawn bowls or bowls is played on a bowling green that can be made of natural grass or artificial turf. The playing surface is divided into parallel playing strips called "rinks". The dimensions of the rectangular rink can vary but should be no larger than 40m by 5.8 m.

Sumo wrestling originated in Japan and it is the only country where it is a professional sport. The two wrestlers do battle in a ring (dohyo) which is 4.55 m in diameter.

9. Stock Car Racing

Stock car racing is another form of automobile racing. The races are usually on and oval shaped track which vary in size. The sport originated in the USA but is also popular in Australia, Great Britain, Brazil, Canada and New Zealand.
10. Cross Country Skiing

Answer: Snowy terrain

Cross country skiing is a form of skiing whereby the skier uses his/her own propulsion to move forward. During WWII Norway and Finland had ski-equipped troops in their armies. It has also been a Winter Olympic sport since the 1920s.
