Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What skill comes after the assemble half turn?

Answer: arabesque

In the routine, the first thing you do is a possé, into the assemblé half turn. Then you do an arabesque, back walkover into a split. There are no standing back handsprings in the level 5 floor routine.
2. What is the first major acro skill with flight in the Level 5 floor routine?

Answer: front handspring

A front handspring is in the first half of the routine, and the round off back handspring back handspring is at the end. A back extension roll is not considered acro with flight, but it comes after the front handspring anyway. There is no such thing as a front extension roll.
3. How many back handsprings come after the roundoff?

Answer: two

You have to do one in level 4, two in level five, and one with a back tuck in level 6.
4. There is a full coupé turn in all three compulsory routines. What part of the turn is required in level 5, but not in level 4?

Answer: develope

A developé is when you bring your foot to your ankle, then kick it up in front of you.
5. How many split leaps are in the level 5 routine?

Answer: 2

A gymnast does the split leap with her dominant leg both times. A split leap is where you leap, with your legs in a split position, at least 100 degrees.
6. The start value for this routine is 9.9 at most meets.

Answer: False

Most gyms give out a perfect 10.0 at a compulsory meet.
7. How many points is a perfect back handspring worth in the routine?

Answer: 1.8

If you fail to execute either back handspring, you will lose 3.6, however, if you only execute one, you only get 1.8 taken off.
8. USAG floor routines must be on a 50x50 floor.

Answer: False

The routine must be in a 40 x 40 floor, but most floors have an extra foot on each side, so you don't fall off if you go out of bounds. The deduction for going out of bounds is .1 according to the USAG code of points.
9. Every how many years, does the music for compulsory floor routines change?

Answer: 4

The music was changed in 2001. In 2005, the routine was completely replaced, as was the music.
10. Where, in the Olympic order of events, is floor?

Answer: fourth

This is the same in every country of the world, because it is what is used in the Olympics, hence the name.
