1. What driver won the 1000th Nascar Grand National (later Nextel Cup) race held on February 28, 1971?

Answer: A.J. Foyt

Foyt won the 1971 Miller High Life 500 at Ontario Speedway in Ontario, Canada. Foyt started the race on the pole in the number 21 car owned by the Wood Brothers. Foyt led 118 of the 200 laps and trumped second place finisher Buddy Baker by 8.5 seconds.
2. At which track did Hut Stricklin earn the first top five finish of his career?

Answer: Michigan

Hut Stricklin finished fourth in the 1989 Champion Spark Plug 400. Rusty Wallace won the race by 15.71 seconds over Morgan Shepherd. At the end of the race, only 10 drivers were on the lead lap.
3. When Tony Stewart won the 2007 USG Sheetrock 400 at Chicagoland, how many races had it been since his last points win?

Answer: 20

Stewart's most recent win prior to Chicagoland in 2007 was at Texas in November 2006. Stewart did start the year with a win in the Budweiser Shootout and the first Gatorade Duel Qualifying race, both of which are non-points events.

Answer: Jeff Gordon

Gordon edged Jamie McMurray by 1.032 seconds to earn his third victory of 2004 and his 67th career Nextel Cup victory. The win was Gordon's fourth at Sonoma.

Answer: Bobby Labonte

Bobby Labonte won the 1991 Busch Series title and then won the 2000 Winston Cup Championship. Greg Biffle won a Nascar Craftsman Truck Series title in 2000, and the Busch Series championship in 2002.
6. Which driver drove the number 40 car in place of Sterling Marlin in the 2005 race at Watkins Glen?

Answer: Scott Pruett

Scott Pruett replaced Sterling Marlin when Marlin vacated the car due to the death of his father Clifton "CooCoo" Marlin. Scott Pruett had to start at the back due to a driver change, and raced his way through the field to a fourth place finish.

G.C. Spencer made 415 starts and finished second seven times but never won a race in his 20-year career. Spencer's first second place finish came at Hickory in 1963. Spencer had three second place finishes in both the 1965 and 1966 seasons. In 1965, Spencer finished second at Spartanburg, Harris, and New Oxford.

In 1966, Spencer earned his last three second place finishes all of which came in North Carolina, at North Wilkesboro, Charlotte, and Weaverville.
8. Four drivers have won a champiosnhip in a Pontiac. Which of the following drivers did not win a championship for Pontiac?

Answer: Alan Kulwicki

Joe Weatherly won the 1962 and 1963 championships in a Pontiac. Rusty Wallace won the third Pontiac title in 1989. Bobby Labonte and Tony Stewart won a title for Pontiac in 2000 and 2002, respectively. Ricky Craven won in a Pontiac when he won at Darlington Raceway in 2003.
9. At what track did Elliott Sadler earn his first career top ten finish?

Answer: Texas Motor Speedway

Elliott Sadler finished tenth at Texas in 1999 in a race won by Terry Labonte. Sadler would also earn his second career victory at Texas in 2004.
10. When Jerry Nadeau won at Atlanta in 2000, he edged out Dale Earnhardt for the win. Which driver finished third in the race after leading 96 laps?

Answer: Ward Burton

Jerry Nadeau led 155 laps the most of any driver in the race. Jeff Gordon finished fourth and Bobby Labonte finished fifth.
