The 11-time all-star won consecutive NL MVPs in 1958 and 1959 at the shortstop position. After 512 career home runs, Banks was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1977.

Roberto died in an airplane crash while escorting supplies to Central America on a humanitarian mission on Dec. 31, 1972. The 12-time all-star won the 1966 NL MVP ahead of runner-up Dodger Sandy Koufax. Clemente was inducted into the hall in 1973.
