Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Claire's nightmare, did she actually see the child?

Answer: No

Claire awoke to hear a baby crying and found that she was no longer pregnant. She wandered into the jungle to follow the wails and came across Locke. When Claire asked what was happening he told her that it was her responsibility and she gave him away.

When he looked up, Locke had a white eye! Then Claire actually saw a something run by through the jungle and followed the figure until she came to a crib. The dream was filled with symbols, especially the mobile that had "Oceanic" airplanes swirling around it.
2. Where did Claire once have a job?

Answer: "Fish And Fry"

Claire told Thomas that having a baby would never work, especially not with her "five dollar an hour job" at Fish And Fry. He seemed dedicated to keeping the baby, and insisted to Claire that it could work. (Of course, after a small dose of responsibility a few months later, Thomas left Claire high and dry.)
3. When Jack approached Kate on the beach, what did she say she was doing?

Answer: Sinking

Jack was coming to bring water down from the caves and fish back, and saw Kate sanding on the beach "doing nothing". Kate showed Jack how she could make her feet sink into the sand when the water pulled away. (Jack asked if her plan was to sink her way off the island?) Kate was worried that Sayid had been gone nearly a week. Jack was worried that Claire would give birth to the baby in less than two weeks.
4. What drink did Charlie bring for Claire?

Answer: Tea

Charlie was incredibly sweet to Claire and offered to be her friend. She resisted, however, because she thought Charlie and everyone else felt they had to "rescue her". Charlie did not give up, though. He brought her tea in the jungle and promised to stay and protect her.
5. What was not part of the dream Charlie described to Claire?

Answer: A song on the radio

Charlie told Claire about the strange dream he had so that she would feel better. (We wonder if he really did have this dream or if he made it up to make her laugh.) After her "nightmares" nearly panicked her into early labor, Claire needed all the relief she could get.
6. What is Hurley's real name?

Answer: Hugo

Hurley was telling Jack that no one on the island really knew anything about each other, and people were being attacked all over the place. He mentioned that "Hurley" was a nickname (but would not reveal why) and "Hugo" was his real name.
7. How many times had Claire visited the psychic?

Answer: Three

The first time she went with her friend. The psychic amazed her by asking when she found out about the baby. (Obviously, he really knew what he was doing.) However, he saw something disturbing and refused to do the reading. The second time she went back on her own and begged him to tell her what he had seen. (He revealed it to be something blurry, which was bad.) He insisted that she must raise the child herself, or great danger would befall the baby. Claire left, and the psychic persisted by calling her with a "plan" so she would not give up the baby.

When Claire finally changed her mind, she visited a third time when he gave her the fatal ticket to Oceanic 815 to meet an adoptive couple that never existed.
8. Charlie did not believe people could have real "psychic" abilities.

Answer: False

When Claire told Charlie about the psychic, she explained how he insisted that she raise the child and then had persuaded her to give the baby up after all. She was sure that all along he had been a phony, but Charlie stunned her by saying maybe not. "If he really did have the gift", Charlie explained, "and I believe some people do, maybe he knew." All the psychic wanted was for Claire to raise the child, and he had known about the fate of the flight all along, Claire realized.

He insisted on that flight to meet a couple who didn't exist because he knew all along what would happen.
9. What did Hurley call Ethan?

Answer: Lance

While conducting his "census", Hurley approached Ethan in the jungle and called him Lance. When Ethan didn't respond, Hurley remembered that Lance had red hair and glasses. Ethan replied in good humor that he could see why they would be confused. When interviewed, Ethan revealed that his last name was Rom and he was from Ontario.

He seemed nice in a sinister way as he asked what the census was for.
10. How old is Shannon?

Answer: 20

Hurley questioned everyone in the caves and on the beach for their name, place of residence, and reason for travel in Australia. When interviewing Shannon, she rudely gave him her information and said she was twenty. After hearing about what happened to Claire, she refused to move to the caves.
11. Where did Locke say he had lived most of his life?

Answer: California

Locke told Hurley he had lived in Tustin, California, and had gone to Australia looking for something. Hurley asked if Locke had found what he was looking for. Locke looked around the island and up at the sky, then replied, "No. It found me."
12. Where did Sawyer have the manifest?

Answer: In a suitcase

Boone told Hurley to check the names of the survivors on the manifest. Hurley asked where it was and Boone said to take a guess. Hurley showed up by Sawyer, who was sleeping in the sun, and used his humor to ask for it. For the first time, Sawyer gave up without a fight.

He smiled and said, "The manifest is in the brown suitcase. Take it." When he did, Hurley realized that on the list of 46 there was one name missing- someone on the island wasn't on the plane.
13. What was spelled on Charlie's fingers in this episode?

Answer: "Late"

The tape on Charlie's fingers spelled "fate" before, and now spelled "late". The tape would play an important role later on, leaving a trail to Charlie and Claire's whereabouts.
14. What was the last name of the couple who wished to adopt Claire's baby?

Answer: Stuart

Claire was about to sign over her baby to a couple, Pauline and Joseph Stuart, in one of her flashbacks. She hesitated a bit, and asked if they would sing a lullaby that she liked, "Catch a Falling Star", for the baby. They agreed, and as she was about to sign the pen ran out of ink.

She asked for another, and it did not work either. Finally Claire realized that she couldn't do it and went back to the psychic to hear his plan.
15. When Sayid returned from the jungle, who was the first person he passed?

Answer: Locke

Sayid stumbled back and passed Locke first, but didn't say a word until he approached Jack. He warned that they were not alone on the island, before collapsing from exhaustion. As Jack tried to unbandage Sayid's wound Hurley rushed over and said he had a problem. One person wasn't on the flight manifest! And out in the jungle, Claire and Charlie came face to face with that person when they found the shady Ethan standing on their path.
