Dan was reluctant to go because he had three hours of paper work to complete before returning to work the next day. Roseanne said they could go to the movies and she'd come home and get it done in one hour. She finally swayed him with the promise of a popcorn box trick.

I hope that by my asking what his rules were, plural, that the answer was a dead giveaway. Burt decided that he would thank them for their kindness in the best way he knew how, by leaving them. He walked out onto the mud porch, but instantly turned around and came back.

The episode ended with Dan and Roseanne attempting to wheel the new refrigerator out of their living room and onto the front porch. The scene was funny due to the intentional bleeping out of all the bad words. This happened again in a much later episode.
