Kate still held Angel responsible for her father's death in season one, but Cordy reminded her that Angel would have needed an invite into the home to validate Darla's sob story.

This was a continuity mistake. Angel said (in season two of "Buffy") that he was 242 years old. It had only been two and half years since that time. Up until season five (of this series) it was believed that Angel had not sired anyone, only Angelus, who did sire Drusilla.
