Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many weeks is the gang's vacation supposed to be on the cruise ship?

Answer: 3

The gang mentions this at the beginning of the episode.
2. What year is the futuristic monster from?

Answer: 6984

This question requires knowledge of the year the episode first originally aired, which was 1977. As the time machine continued glitching at went forward in time, the professor continues shouting to the audience how many years the time machine is going into the future. The final number he says is "5,007," which would mean the monster is from the year 6984.
3. Where does the gang find the professor tied up?

Answer: Cruise quarters

The professor is tied with ropes in a hammock.
4. How much do the investors offer the professor for the time machine once it is fixed?

Answer: $500,000

The professor accepts the offer and the investors agree to give him the money once it is fixed.
5. The monster never speaks at all in the episode, and only lets out indecipherable grunts.

Answer: False

For most of the episode, the monster simply grunts. However, when he captures Shaggy and Scooby, he does speak for the only time, saying "Now I'm going to take you 5,000 years into the future!"
6. How is Velma able to fix the time machine?

Answer: Her uncle gives her instructions

Her uncle, who has a lot of technical and mechanical knowledge, offers insight to Velma on how to fix the time machine.
7. When the monster reappears to steal the money, it is later discovered that it is simply which member of the gang in a monster suit?

Answer: Shaggy

It is unknown how Shaggy got the suit or how he was able to suddenly replicate the monster suit design so accurately.
8. Who is the monster?

Answer: Simon Grady

The gang traps Simon in a janitor's closet after he is chased by the "monster" (Shaggy in disguise).
9. Simon Grady is the only one arrested.

Answer: False

Professor Von Klemp is also involved in the scheme and is arrested by the police at the end of the episode.
10. What is the monster's motive?

Answer: Conning the investors out of their money

Besides the "joyriding" answer (which is a completely made up answer and not logical), the professor owned the boat and the time machine so the other two answers make no sense. Both Grady and Von Klemp devised the scheme to con the investors. The time machine was never actually real in the first place, it was actually a useless device which did not work at all.
