Vassey, born on August 9th, 1972 in Raleigh, North Carolina landed the short term part of Monica Wyatt for this episode of the series. A picture with Monica's face on it was located in the murder victim's wallet. Vassey was credited with playing the character in this one episode.

In the first scene with Richard and Alexis, he made her some turkey bacon but was surprised when she turned down the meal. He stated how Alexis appeared to love turkey bacon so this made him wonder if something wrong happened in her life. Alexis stated how she and a fellow friend got into an argument.

Richard and Kate questioned a pizza owner, Ralph Carbone, since they found a murder victim in his oven. Ralph could not believe that someone would choose his pizzeria out of all the ones in New York City as a place to store dead bodies. Early on, Richard and Kate consulted with Lanie to see what she could figure out about their victim. While Lanie was unable to take any prints off the body due to severe burns, she did retrieve some of the deceased's belongings. One of them was a wallet that contained a picture of Monica Wyatt.

Richard and Kate dug through the victim's file and figured out that he worked as an investigative reporter. From additional investigating did they come upon one of his assignments: covering war related events in Sarajevo, Bosnia during the mid 1990s. Richard and Kate wondered if the victim published a piece that led to his eventual murder.

Midway through the episode, Javier informed Richard and Kate about a lead he got in their investigation over reporter Mr. Burns' death. A concerned citizen heard Mr. Burns and someone arguing and how this verbal altercation involved someone threatening Mr.Burns' life should he publish a scathing piece. Richard and Kate realized the person who argued with Mr. Burns was none other than Luca Sabalini, a pizza shop owner.

Richard and Kate got information about Monica Wyatt possibly being a suspect in Mr. Burns' murder so they questioned her. She offered some evasive answers that raised concerns with the New York Police Department. After Kate consulted with someone, she claimed that, while Monica often made frivolous complaints against various people that cast her as a trouble making pariah, no other facts or evidence suggested she had a serious motive to off Mr. Burns.

Later on in the episode, Alexis planted a peck on Richard's cheek just before she vented about this nasty young girl by the name of Lauren. Alexis and Lauren fought after the latter accused the former of ruining her party. Alexis stated how she called her a backstabber so Richard advised her that, in the future, it was best to ignore girls like Lauren since she had more maturity in her than to resort to a bratty troublemaker's level.

Kate questioned Monica near the very end of the episode since she realized that there was more to Monica's story than what Ms. Wyatt divulged. Monica had once lived in Los Angeles and, according to Kate, another Los Angeles based woman with the same name wound up dead due to a heroin overdose. Kate found it odd how a drug kingpin engulfed the Los Angeles Police Department's investigation unit just weeks after police recovered the body in a Los Angeles river. Monica requested for a lawyer before she spoke any further.
