Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. During the review of the Harvard application Rory and Lorelai discuss nicknames for each other. That being said, Rory is to Droopy Drawers as Lorelai is to ________.

Answer: Little Miss Horsey Holder

Lorelai was in a hurry to read over the application, but Rory took the time to get a soda from the fridge. Due to her mother's impatience, Rory said "Hold you horses, Little Miss Horsey Holder."
The application asked if the person had any nicknames, so Lorelai offered one from Rory's young life, Droopy Drawers. It came about when Rory's little corduroy Oshkosh pants fell down to her knees one day.
2. Who popped out of Rory's room while she and her mom were looking over the Harvard application?

Answer: Lane

Lane was secretly creating an ad to offer her services to play in a band. She had really over done it, and was claiming that ad would cost her $500. She had to do all of this in secret, and leave the Gilmore telephone number for a contact, because Mrs. Kim would never allow Lane to participate in band.
3. Which influential person did Rory want to do her Harvard application essay on, who she later found out, could be frowned upon?

Answer: Hillary Clinton

Rory really did find Hillary to be a strong and fascinating woman, who was also an excellent speaker. She later finds out, from a reliable source, that many young women do an essay on Hillary and that the admissions staff found it a bit tiresome.
Sylvia Plath was the one idea that Lorelai suggested might be frowned upon, due to Sylvia putting her head in an oven. But, she quickly pointed out that she did make her children a snack first. I am not sure if that is entirely true or classic Lorelai wit.
4. Paris and Rory hosted a panel discussion at Chilton on how to best get into the university of your choice. They had an expert in this field, and an actual admissions person from ________.

Answer: Princeton

This is the man who clued Rory into the distaste of Hillary Clinton essays. Rory became so flustered by this that she could not aid Paris in the panel discussion at all. She joined her mother at her grandparents' house and they were both in "freak" mode over the admissions people for Harvard. Lorelai was able to find a solution, and talked to the headmaster at Chilton.
5. Which celebrity, over Lorelai's dead body, would take Rory's spot at Harvard?

Answer: Kate Hudson

Emily had alarmed Lorelai with all the tough talk about getting into an Ivy League college. She mentioned that admissions board people would sometimes just randomly create piles of Yes and No, because all of the applicants were completely qualified. Then, she went on to add that some undeserving celebrities were taking spots just because it was trendy to go to school in between acting spells.

She brought up hearing Kate Hudson talking about it on TV.
6. Taylor sent three people into Luke's asking for official and specific ice cream soda treats.

Answer: True

Taylor sent two children, and one Kirk, into Luke's to ask for specific soda and ice cream related treats. They all asked for these by their official names, making Luke realize it had to be Taylor. When confronted, Taylor admitted he wanted to add a turn of the century soda shop in Stars Hollow.
7. Lorelai, with the help of Headmaster Charleston, arranged for Rory to meet Harvard alum. What was this man's name?

Answer: Darren Springsteen

Darren had graduated from Harvard in 1974. He was able to get to know Rory and review her records. When he called her later he left a message stating she was as good as in, and to pack her bags.
8. The Harvard alum Rory met with had three children. Jack and Jennifer were extremely smart and the apple of their parents' eyes. Who was the third, oldest, and completely different child?

Answer: Carol

Her mom described Carol as "following her own path", while her dad said "doing her own thing". The truth was that Carol had rejected being put on "the conveyor belt" like her younger siblings. When Rory ran into her upstairs she was coming from one job, as a waitress, and onto her next job as a bunny rabbit for a four year old girl's birthday party. Carol reminded me a lot of Lorelai, while Rory was like the Springsteen's younger kids.
9. How did Lane's potential band member know he'd found Lane after the town meeting?

Answer: her Dead Kennedy's T-shirt

The two hit it off immediately. They went over to a bench to listen to some of the band's music he had brought with him. When they parted, Lane took off her t-shirt and revealed a yellow religious one underneath. He asked if it was a band, and she said it was her life.
10. Why was it that Jackson was interested in Rory's bedroom?

Answer: He had some tools he wanted to store

These tools were antique and he'd inherited them from his dad. Jackson pointed out Rory's room would be empty soon, but I do not know why he thought that. Rory was going to Harvard, and would be returning to Stars Hollow frequently. Her room would be needed the entire time she was at Harvard, and were would she keep all her stuff? Dorms rooms do not house the person's entire belongings.

It is like Jackson thought of Rory as moving into her own home. Bad writing, or just a typical Jackson brain glitch?
