Kevin mainly wants to go because he wants to go to New York, and it would be the perfect excuse. He said that Lucy could come with him, but Lucy said that she was in the wedding herself! Not only that, but Kevin's in the wedding! Kevin even suggested that the guys go to New York and the girls stick around for the wedding, but that wasn't going to happen. Kevin's most effective maneuver was getting Simon and Rose to consider eloping- he was willing to be a witness, once Simon suggested it, but he didn't even care about seeing them.

He just wanted to go to Matt's graduation.

Sarah appears again in this episode as Matt's wife, but Matt is nowhere to be found. Kevin calls Simon, not Rose. Annie doesn't call anyone, but Umberto calls her.

Kevin calls Simon up and suggests it, and Simon and Rose both seem keen on the idea- at first. They need 24 hours to think it over.

Ruthie and Peter try to get their parents to allow them to go to Scotland over the summer to study poetry. It costs $2500, but that includes everything. Kevin gives Ruthie the money, but Lucy thinks it's a bad idea. Ruthie's going off to a foreign country to be alone with a boy.

However, Kevin has a good reason to let Ruthie go- perhaps she'll gain perspective, won't get married too young, and wants to see the world. Peter's parents won't let him go, it seems, and Annie knows nothing about Ruthie and Scotland by the end of the episode.

Umberto spoke with Simon about it, Simon confirmed that she means nothing to him, and he has nothing to hide.

Eric doesn't know how to respond, and the phone rings. Eric answers it- but Annie asks how he can answer the phone at a time like that. She tells Eric that they need to stop him!

"Yes!", Annie says. She's excited! And Umberto's plan does work. Umberto tricks Rose into thinking the entire Camden family is coming to their elopement, and Rose doesn't want that. Umberto points out that she shouldn't marry into a family where everyone hates her. However, instead of deciding not to marry Simon because of this, Rose takes a different approach...

Answer: Lucy finds out that he told Simon and Rose to elope

Lucy said that he was a genius when he explained his reasons for thinking Scotland would be good for Ruthie, but when Eric and Annie came in and Annie informed Lucy of the elopement idea, she said, "You really are a genius!"

Umberto asks Rose how she knew that Annie was at home. Rose tells him it's intuition.

Ruthie still, however, wants to go. Eric still hadn't mentioned it to Annie yet, though. Immediately after this is established, Eric takes away Ruthie's cell phone because of the outrageous phone bill. Also, it might be interesting to note that Robert Burns is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland, and is the best known of the poets who have written in the Scots' language.

However, much of his writing is also in English and in a "light" Scots dialect which would have been accessible to a wider audience than simply Scottish people.

Jessica Biel hadn't been seen in the show since the second episode of season 8- and according to the show's storyline, Mary had filed for divorce and signed away custody of her son at the end of season nine. Now, in season 10, Mary is to be assumed to still be a flight attendant and probably in some contact with the family. Ruthie says that she doesn't think they'll be getting Mary back, but in a few weeks they'll have Rose! But that idea isn't all that pleasant for either Ruthie or Lucy.

Answer: "I'm not so sure she's gonna end up with Simon."

Rose has changed the date of the wedding- it's now the day before it was originally planned- a Friday. Rose reveals that her parents weren't all that great at being parents, and that she, ever since her parents' divorce, acted like she was better than everyone so that it wouldn't matter if people didn't like her. She was afraid of people not liking her. But she now realizes that she's been a horrible person, and she wants to change. She tells Annie, and Annie knows that she herself has too been a horrible person. She asks Rose why the sudden change, and finds out that it was Umberto- he thinks she's likable! Then Annie calls Eric, and reports both her change of heart and her new suspicions.
