A Quiz On...Mr. Hat!

Answer: Mr. Garrison

Mr. Hat has is Mr. Garrison's puppet and teaching assistant. The South Park students seem to think he's stupid but put up with him nonetheless.

According to Wikipedia, Mr. Hat was created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker to make fun of High Hat, a puppet used to teach children the alphabet and grammar.

Answer: He wears a purple shirt with a Dr. Seuss hat.

An interesting thing about Mr. Hat is that his eyes are located above the brim of his hat.

The South Park kids hate Mr. Twig, but every time the mention Mr. Hat, Mr. Garrison gets angry and refers to him as a "two-timer".

Mr. Hat crashes through the cell wall in an SUV, much to Chef's surprise. Chef's only question, though, was "How did he reach the gas pedal?" (as opposed to the more logical question, 'Why was a puppet driving a car?'). After Mr. Hat breaks Mr. Garrison out of prison, Mr. Garrison realizes that he still loves Mr. Hat, and Mr. Twig actually encourages him to go back to Mr. Hat.

Mr. Mackey tries talking to Mr. Hat to ask him how he can talk to the despondent Mr. Garrison, but Mr. Hat just calls him a bad guidance counselor. The two end up fighting, and while Mr. Garrison stares aimlessly out the window, Mr. Mackey gets beaten up by Mr. Hat. It turns out that Mr. Garrison is unhappy because of a certain family issue that he believes is unresolved.

This is seen in the episode "Chef Goes Nanners", the episode in which Chef wants the South Park flag to be changed because he thinks it's racist. The KKK members are protesting changing the flag and when people ask Mr. Garrison why he's among them, he responds that Mr. Hat is a member of the KKK, something Mr. Garrison seems very ashamed of. Mr. Garrison even tries to stop Mr. Hat from going to the Klan meetings, but seems unable to do so.

Answer: Satan

Satan takes Mr. Hat as a replacement for Saddam Hussein, whom he kills late in the movie. Satan speaks Mr. Hat's lines in a similar manner as Mr. Garrison. Maybe Mr. Garrison acquired (made?) a new Mr. Hat, because when the series resumes after the movie, he has Mr. Hat back, even though we see Satan take him at the end of the movie.

Mr. Hat actor: "Right away, Mr. Garrison!"

This is the episode when the viewer finds out that Cartman's mom is a hermaphrodite and is actually Eric's father. This is also the episode where Officer Barbrady, Mayor McDaniels, Mr. Garrison, Jimbo, Ned, and Chef get trapped in a snowed-in building and resort to cannibalism to survive by eating the crew of "America's Most Wanted".

Answer: Brett Favre

This was from the episode "Summer Sucks" where the students can't use fireworks because they were outlawed. Mr. Garrison is talking to Mr. Katz (his psychologist) about Mr. Hat and he tells him that Mr. Hat likes to imagine he's in a steam room with Brett Favre.

The psychologist tells Mr. Garrison that he thinks Mr. Hat is the homosexual part of Mr. Garrison. We don't hear anymore from the psychologist, though, as he is killed (smothered) by the giant snake that the South Park residents lit.

Answer: The Death Camp of Tolerance

In "The Death Camp of Tolerance" (an episode where Mr. Garrison tries to get fired for being gay so that he can win a discrimination lawsuit), Mr. Slave is introduced as a character and the creators of the show felt no need to keep Mr. Hat on as a character.
