Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Sin City"- In Elizabethtown, Ohio, Dean ran across an old hunter friend. Who was this?

Answer: Richie

Richie and Dean had killed some demons together, but Sam hadn't met him. After he and Dean had a chat in the bar, Richie disappeared. He left with the sexy bartender, Casey, who was actually a demon. She knew Richie was a hunter, so she killed him.

Sasha Barrese played Casey and Robert Curtis Brown played Father Gil.
2. "Sin City"- Who shot and killed both demons, Casey and Father Gil, with the newly restored Colt?

Answer: Sam

Dean tried to save Casey, but the new and "improved" Sam Winchester spares no one. He killed Father Gil first and then Casey, in order to save Dean's life. Ruby helped Bobby restore the demon killing Colt, and Sam used it efficiently.
3. "Bedtime Stories"- When Sam and Dean came to Maple Springs to investigate a murder, how did they introduce themselves?

Answer: Detectives Plant and Page

While all of these choices are feasible aliases for the brothers, they went with the surnames of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame. It was the fairy tale murder in the style of "Three Little Pigs" that drew them to town. The only survivor of that attack, Kyle, explained to the "detectives" that the killer was human. The Winchesters initially suspected werewolf.
4. "Bedtime Stories"- The "killer" was the powerful spirit of a young woman named Callie. Who was responsible for Callie being in a coma?

Answer: Julie, her step-mom

Dr. Garrison was reading Julie fairy tales, and Callie used those to inspire her murders. Her mother had poisoned her for attention, most likely as a sufferer of Munchhausen's syndrome by proxy. At the end of the episode, Sam summoned the Crossroads demon and shot her with the Colt. Sam's decided to take no prisoners in season three! And, he may be becoming a tad bit evil, as so many have hinted would happen in the first two seasons.
5. "Red Sky at Morning"- The case is simple in this episode. If you saw the ghost ship, sometime later you'd drown mysteriously. What was the common thread in all of the people who saw the ship?

Answer: they caused the death of a relative

Sheila Case, the Warren brothers, and even Bela herself had all killed a family member in one way or another. Bela refused to revealed who she'd killed or why, but the Winchesters helped save her anyway. Taco Bell may cause you to feel ill if you eat it, but it will hardly cause your death. "Moulin Rouge", now that's debatable!
6. "Red Sky at Morning"- What human artifact was needed to end the curse of the ghost ship?

Answer: Hand of Glory

In short, the legend of the ghost ship was that a sailor had his hand cut off and made into a relic called the Hand of Glory. The story, as all are, was way more intimate than just your basic vengeance tale. The truth was that the sailor's brother was the captain of the ship, who cut of his hand and then hung him. Bela and the boys head to a cemetery to perform their ritual, which caused the ghosts to appear. The ghost attacked his brother, the captain, and they disappeared. Bela was saved by the men once again!

Real world fun fact: the Hand of Glory is a real item and can be found in a couple of museums in the United Kingdom. Some pop culture references to the item have been mentioned in TV, book and film such as "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Half-blood Prince", "Angel Heart", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Dresden Files", and "Dime Store Magic".
7. "Red Sky at Morning"- In their attempt to steal a piece for cemetery ritual, who is Sam's date for the black-tie party at the maritime museum?

Answer: Gertrude Case

Gertrude, a charming and lascivious old woman, was the grandmother to Sheila Case. Sheila was the first victim of the ghost ship curse. She'd caused the death of her own brother in an auto accident. Dean was Bela's date. Bela feigned a faint in order to get some alone time for her and Dean upstairs.

They needed some excusable time to be absent and search for the relic. Ellen Greer gave an amusing and playful performance as Gertrude. Gertrude repeatedly came on to Sam, who uncomfortably tried to gently rebuke her advances.
8. "Fresh Blood"- When he first met Bela, how did Gordan Walker describe Sam Winchester?

Answer: the anti-Christ

Walker tried to threaten Bela for information, but she explained she did not respond well to acts of intimidation. She said if he offered her a deal that he would get further faster. So, he lowered his gun and told her to tell him where the boys were or he'd kill her (pointing the gun at her once more).

She responded with "kill me, good luck finding Sam and Dean." He lowered the gun once more and said he could "rustle up three grand".
9. "Fresh Blood"- Dean captured a vampire named Lucy using what technique?

Answer: his own fresh blood

Yes, hence the title "Fresh Blood". Dean sliced open his left arm and when she got close enough, he injected her with a dose of dead man's blood. The men tied her to a chair to interrogate her, and she claimed to know nothing about her vampirism. Mercedes McNab played Lucy. Mercedes also played the vampire Harmony Kendall on both "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and its spin-off "Angel".

She begged the men for help, so Dean killed her.
10. "Fresh Blood"- Pick the who and how that describes Gordon Walker's death.

Answer: Sam by beheading

Walker faced a fate worse than death when he was turned into a vampire. He had one last task, though, before he would take his own monstrous life. He had to kill Sam Winchester. In the final battle with the men, Walker sank his fangs into Dean. Sam saved Dean and Walker proceeded to try and kill him. Sam was able to get a piece of barbed wire around the vampire's throat and used his presumable superhuman strength to behead Gordan Walker. Bobby was not in this episode.

The show ended with Dean teaching Sam how to fix the Impala.
