Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After twelve girls were picked during casting week, Tyra shocked the contestants by revealing which thirteenth model?

Answer: Ren

After weeding out potential models during a casting week in Las Vegas, Tyra selected only a dozen of the original thirty-two hopefuls this time around. When the models were sent to New York City they were met by Perez Hilton and Tyra who introduced the thirteenth contestant, Ren, who was hand-picked by Tyra to join.

After checking into their Top Model loft, the girls received makeovers and were then told to pose nude with a single article of clothing (be it a pair of pants or a watch or otherwise) from a mannequin-- one per girl. During judging (at which it was revealed that "Vogue" editor-in-chief André Leon Talley would be a permanent panelist, the judges felt that Gabrielle needed to go home over Alasia (who was kept in solely on Talley's impression of her).
2. During the runway challenge in week two, Alexandra was knocked off the runway by which of these?

Answer: A swinging pendulum

During week two, the girls were met by Jay Alexander for their runway lessons. After he taught them the basics of runway they were told that they would be performing in a fashion show for Rachel Roy on a unique runway beginning with three flights of stairs and then a catwalk featuring two large pendulums swinging from side to side. Though some girls narrowly (and did) get hit, it was Alexandra who not only fell down the stairs, but got knocked off the runway by a swinging pendulum on her way back.

The girls had a shoot in wind and rain for a new perfume after which Naduah, who claimed to have the most experience, was sent home.
3. In week three, the girls received training to take part in a photo shoot showcasing which of the following activities?

Answer: Dancing

At the start of week three, the girls met with former "Top Model" contestant Toccara who had them participate in a trivia game for a chance to win go-sees with BlueFly.com. After the game and subsequent go-sees, Simone won the challenge and a $2,500 gift card.

After this, the girls interpreted different dance styles at their photo shoot. Alasia, who'd been near the bottom for the previous weeks, stunned the judges with an amazing shot styled in interpretive dance while Ren, who claimed that she was only on the show to seek approval from her mother, was not saved from elimination.
4. In week four, the girls posed blind as vampires for their shoot. What were they wearing that impaired their vision?

Answer: Whited-out contact lenses

This week the girls were taken to an improv comedy club to learn how to be spontaneous actors. For their challenge, the girls went to Times Square to meet with model/actress Dania Ramirez who made them act out a CoverGirl commercial, live, on a big screen. Tatianna ended up being the only girl who allegedly showed her personality.

She won an advertorial spread in "Seventeen" magazine. This week, the photo shoot had the girls posing in a bathtub full of blood with a vampire model. At the same time, they couldn't see because they needed to wear whited-out contacts. During judging, Simone was asked to leave the competition.
5. Which girl did not receive the top picture during any week of the competition?

Answer: Tatianna

Meeting with Jay Alexander and Nigel Barker in week five, the girls had to incite some chemistry between themselves and a male model (in this case, Nigel). Most of them had issues with this. At a challenge the same night, the girls had to pose with comedian Ross Matthew with only five frames.

The important part? Chemistry. The shoot this week involved posing in faux outfits and Tatianna was sent home. In week six, the girls visited "Seventeen" magazine's headquarters before heading to an industry party.

The shoot this time around involved posing on a moving subway car for a CoverGirl ad. Brenda, who'd spent many weeks trying to find her identity, was asked to leave.
6. With seven girls remaining, the models had a final challenge in the United States during which they wore outfits made entirely of what material?

Answer: Hair

Week seven's shoot involved outfits made entirely of hair courtesy of designers Weaven Steven and Derek J. The goal was to make the hair work with the wind around them; they had to create movement. For this shoot, the girls split into teams but were judged individually. Ultimately, the judges opted to send home Anslee shortly before announcing that the girls would be leaving the States. Also during this week, the girls met with Jay Alexander at a drag comedy club to perfect their personalized runway walks.
7. What was the international destination in Cycle 14?

Answer: New Zealand

Arriving in New Zealand, the girls met with Jay Alexander atop Mount Eden for a Maori ritual before embarking immediately on their go-sees in Auckland. Here, the girls had the chance to visit six designers before returning to their modeling agency. Unfortunately it was after a twenty-two hour trip. Angelea excelled by visiting and getting booked by all six designers; two girls didn't make it back in time. During the shoot this week, the girls posed with live rams in identical dresses (with Nigel acting as photographer). Krista was considered to have given the dress new, bold reconstruction in her shot while Alasia's photo fell flat.

She was eliminated.
8. For a challenge, the final five girls were asked to pose on a "Harry Potter" film set.

Answer: False

In week nine, the final five girls actually headed to the set used for The Shire in "Lord of the Rings". Here, wearing designer outfits, the girls had to strike gold with only five shots within a small, circular doorway. This week for their shoot, the girls worked exclusively with Tyra to create shots with dynamic shadows and colours. Most of this involved taking shots under unique fabrics and materials. Krista's picture was the best this week (as per the judges) while Jessica was asked to leave the competition due to her inability to translate her commercial appeal into higher fashion.
9. In the penultimate week of the competition, how many of the girls were eliminated at the judging panel?

Answer: Two

With only four girls remaining, they flew from Auckland to Queenstown for another shoot. En route, the two Jays asked the girls to perform their runway walk in the aisle of the plane mid-flight for a chance to win jewelery. Upon arriving, the girls were whisked off to a unique set where they had to pose in haute couture dresses and exude a sense of 'ugly-pretty' to contrast their beautiful surroundings.

At panel, both Alexandra and Angelea were eliminated from the competition leaving only two to vie for the title.
10. Who became America's Next Top Model in Cycle 14?

Answer: Krista

In the final week of the competition, Krista and Raina returned to Auckland for their CoverGirl shoot and commercial and their "Seventeen" magazine photo spread. This was followed by a runway show for Anna Sui in which they needed to be bubbly and perky. They were joined by the previous four eliminated girls. Ultimately, the judges chose Krista, who won the previous four best photos at judging, to be the winner.

After claiming her $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics and her spread in "Seventeen" magazine, Krista was also signed on with Wilhelmina Models. Surprisingly, her work after the show was not as extensive as runner-up Raina's. Raina also booked a contract with Wilhelmina as well as Major Model Management in France. She also appeared in international campaigns and in world-famous music videos.
