Answer: SS Esperanto

SS Esperanto was on a mission to introduce oceanic life to potential S3 planets. They were trying to get this S3 planet able to sustain human lives. Unfortunately for the Esperanto, crew they came across the Despair Squid.

2. How did the crew of the underwater ship that Starbug found die?

Answer: Suicide

All had died of suicide by self inflicted gun shots, one by gunshot to the head.

3. A dog also on the discovered ship died in the same method as the crew.

Answer: False

Everyone died of self inflicted gun shot wounds even a fish who voluntarily closed his gills on purpose. Cat had found the fish and discovered the gills were closed on purpose thanks to the Despair Squid.

While the boys were hallucinating due to the Despair Squid, Holly was trying to bring them out of the hallucination. While she was trying to do that she laid out Limpet mines that killed the Despair Squid.
