Bones's 'Squinterns' Trivia Quiz

Dr Temperance ("Bones") Brennan had various assistants at the Jeffersonian Institute, nicknamed "squinterns" for their need to examine the evidence minutely. For truly dedicated fans of "Bones", match the "squintern" to the description on the left.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Political exile from Iran, spoke English with a faked Persian accent, love interest of Dr Saroyan.

Answer: Dr Arastoo Vaziri

Dr Aristoo Vaziri, played by Pej Vahdat, joined the team at the Jeffersonian early in season four, following the departure of Zack Addy. At first he spoke English with a false Persian accent to deflect from his practice as a devout Muslim, but one day let his accent slip in front of Dr Saroyan and he thereafter abandoned it in the lab.

He is also expert at nunchaku and an accomplished poet in Farsi. He and Dr Saroyan had a relationship which culminated in their marriage in the second-last episode and they revealed in the series finale that they were adopting three orphaned boys from Mississippi.
2. Bones's best friend, specialises in facial reconstruction, love interest of Dr Hodgins/

Answer: Angela Montenegro

Angela Montenegro, played by Michaela Conlin, was part of the show from the pilot episode. She was a talented artist in her own right, with a lifelong wish to live and work in Paris, which was briefly realised between seasons five and six. She married Jack Hodgins in season five and the two had a son in season six.

Her great claim to fame was the development of the Angelatron, a real-time graphics simulator, which became essential in solving crimes. Her father on the show was played by Billy Gibbons, previously of the band ZZ Topp.
3. "King of the Lab", came from a rich family, extreme conspiracy theorist.

Answer: Dr Jack Hodgins

Played by T.J. Thyne, Jack Hodgins was part of the show from the very beginning, specialising in the evidence provided by bugs, spores, and rocks. He came from a very rich family which was a generous sponsor of the Jeffersonian, a fact which Hodgins preferred to keep hidden from the rest of the lab.

He and Angela Montenegro had an on-again off-again relationship, involving an interrupted wedding at the end of season two, a reconciling and marriage in season five and a child born in season six. An accident at a crime at the end of season 11 left his legs paralysed and him in a wheelchair.
4. Sarcastic and depressive, in and out of mental institutions, college tutor of the President's daughter.

Answer: Dr Colin Fisher

Dr Colin Fisher, played by Joel Moore, joined the team in the fourth season, but seems to have spent more time in institutions than in the lab. He helped Hodgins greatly when the latter learned that he had a brother now in a mental facility. He has great success in meeting and seducing women.
5. One of Dr Brennan's earliest hirings, diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, supposedly in debt to the mob but in fact owing money to his neighbours.

Answer: Dr Wendell Bray

Dr Wendell Bray, played by Michael Grant Terry, joined the team in season 4 and was the intern who appeared most often in the next nine years of the show. Bright and affable, he was the only "squintern" whom Seeley Booth liked. In season 9 he was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma and decided to fight the disease even though the odds were not in his favour.

His use of cannabis to fight the side-effects of his treatment led to a temporary exile from the lab, but he returns in season 10, apparently in remission.
6. Serious and well organised, hired as a forensic archaeologist, briefly replaced Bones in season eight.

Answer: Dr Clark Edison

Dr Clark Thomas Edison, played by Eugene Byrd, was the most earnest and professional of all the "squinterns". He appeared briefly in season three and returned in season four after Zack Addy was sent to prison. When Dr Brennan fled after being framed for murder, Dr Edison briefly replaced her in the lab.

When Brennan returned, he accepted a position at the Jeffersonian with responsibility for historical archaeology, his real passion in life, while Dr Brennan devotes herself exclusively to solving crime which was her real passion.
7. Brennan's most devoted fan, annoyingly too eager to please, love interest of Dr Sweets.

Answer: Daisy Wick

Daisy Wick, played by Carla Gallo, was part of the series for seasons four through twelve. She was an enormous fan of Dr Brennan and would often annoyingly blurt out how she felt about working with her and in being part of the team at the Jeffersonian.

This was usually not well received by Dr Brennan and Daisy's co-workers. She and Dr Lance Sweets, a psychiatrist working with the FBI, had an ongoing relationship lasting over several seasons. They married between seasons nine and ten, but he was killed in the first episode of season ten. Later in the season she had a son whom she named Seeley Lance Wicks-Sweets.
8. Child prodigy, with two doctorates, accomplice to a serial killer.

Answer: Dr Zack Addy

Dr Zack Addy, played by Eric Millegan, was Bones's first professional intern and her closest assistant in the first three seasons. His speciality was removing the flesh from bones and from examining the markings made on the skeleton. At the end of the third season it was revealed that he had become the protege of a cannibalistic serial killer nicknamed "Gormogon", and was incarcerated after confessing to killing a lobbyist.

In the final season he was acquitted of this murder with the aid of the team in the Jeffersonian.
9. Southern boy whom Dr Hodgins nicknames "Opie", had a juvenile criminal record, recreated his grandmother's recipe for hot sauce.

Answer: Finn Abernathy

Finn Abernathy, played by Luke Kleintank, was part of the cast from seasons seven to nine. From North Carolina, he had a distinctive Southern accent, and also a sealed juvenile record, which caused some problems at the lab. Hodgins immediately nicknamed him "Opie" (Ron Howard's character in "The Andy Griffith Show"), to which Finn responded with a nickname for Hodgins, "Thurston" (the rich man on "Gilligan's Island").

He had a brief relationship with Dr Saroyan's daughter, Michelle.
10. Englishman with a bent for trivia, shot by a sniper in the lab.

Answer: Mr Vincent Nigel-Murray

"Mr" Vincent Nigel-Murray, played by Ryan Cartwright, joined the team at the Jeffersonian for seasons four through six. He had a degree from the University of Leeds, but not his doctorate (hence Dr Brennan's insistence on calling him "Mister") and was described by her as her "most intelligent intern". Bordering on the obsessive-compulsive, he would often produce pieces of trivia when working on a problem.

At the end of season six, villain Jacob Broadsky, attempted to shoot Booth with a sniper rifle, but Vincent answered the phone in Booth's place and was killed.

A memorial plaque was placed in the lab, and Hodgins and Angela named their son "Michael Vincent".
