Mac and Stella are called to investigate the murder of a nineteen-year-old male who was found in his apartment by a fellow student at Chelsea University. Mac and Stella find that the door to the apartment was broken into and the victim was dragged across the room, possibly as a message, after being shot in the forehead. Will's roommate, Jordan, was not in the apartment at the time although she skipped her classes that day. Mac hypothesizes that the killers may have taken the wrong victim.

Mac and Stella find that Novick lived the life of a careless rich boy. Along with these expensive tickets, Novick's apartment was littered with expensive electronic equipment. Stella later finds that Novick made weakly deposits into his bank account ranging from $500 to $3,000. Flack calls this predictable. Stella also finds near-pure heroin in razor marks on the glass kitchen table.

This suggests that Novick was selling drugs for a profit. Hawkes later tells Mac and Stella that Novick never used drugs. Three broken ribs, bruised kidneys, and broken knees are the damages from the murderers.

Aiden checks into these tickets at the lab. The top one had the victim's blood on it as well as two finger prints- one from Novick and another which isn't in the system. The odd thing is that two tickets from the bunch are missing: G13 and G14. Mac heads to the show to find the occupants of those seats, and he and Danny end up interrogating Alex, who worked for Novick.

It turns out that Novick was a ticket scalper, and he generated his money by having Alex stand in line to buy tickets, then by selling them at better prices.

After meeting with Novick's 'digger', Mac goes to meet Stella in an alley where Jordan Benson's purse has been found with all of her cash and credit cards inside. Nearby is a hunting knife and a bullet hole in a nearby wall. Blood drops make a trail to a nearby dumpster, and when Mac looks inside he's attacked by a man named Shaun Deroy.

They bring him in for an interrogation although he claims he doesn't know Novick or Benson.

It turns out that Jordan Benson was the one who was dealing the drugs the whole time. Danny and Mac go to the dorm room of Paul Collins to find that the has overdosed on heroin with the same purity that was found in Novick's apartment. Meanwhile, Stella takes apart Benson's cell phone and discovers that Jordan was on campus for lunch.

When she calls the number from the text message, Mac gets the call on Paul Collins' cell phone proving that Jordan was selling the heroin.

Stella and Mac go to talk to Jordan about the people that died of her drugs that morning, but Stella is unable to get a word out of Jordan because her father and attorney are in the way. Stella decides to check Jordan's finances as well, but it turns out that she's basically broke.

When Mac goes off to work on more evidence, Aiden looks into Jordan's purse. After finding a rubbed out receipt and a tube of lipstick, Aiden finds residue, later found to be cocaine, on the lining of the purse.

Aiden tells Mac that the substance on Shaun Deroy's hands was super glue, and this helps them build a new theory. After Aiden discovers that Benson's purse is simply a cheap knockoff, they realize that the drugs could be Deroy's since he sells counterfeit purses.

They theorize that Benson bought the purse while talking on her cell phone, and when Deroy put her money away, she took the bag with the heroin in it. He later remembered a location she said in her call and stole the bag back from her.

However, she had already found the drugs inside.

Using Benson's student card, Danny discovers that Jordan was at the Chelsea University library before she went to her parents' house. The 'SC' from her cell phone indicated that she visited the Special Collection area to meet someone. Another student in the collection at the time was Andrea Allix, so they head to her room next. Here Danny finds Andrea on the floor and he calls 911.

After performing a spot test on the toilet water in the Benson household, Stella finds traces of diluted heroin and she tells the story to Mrs. Lipstone, Mr. Benson, and Jordan. Jordan fun the drugs, and because her father cut off her money, she tried to sell it in order to reclaim her riches.

However, she assumed it was heroin and sold it to Paul and Andrea unaware that the doses would kill them. When she realized that Deroy wanted the drugs back (and he stole her purse), she left for her family's house. Jordan is placed under arrest for negligent homicide and trafficking.

Breaking into a counterfeiting warehouse, Mac and Danny come across Joel Banks, whose warehouse not only contains drugs, but counterfeit products, which they can arrest him for. They examine his shirt and find a single blood droplet near the collar. This blood is from their victim, Will Novick. Banks later attempted to shoot at Deroy, who fled and hid in the dumpster. Novick is placed under arrest not only for the drugs, but for murdering Novick, the innocent bystander.
