Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What price does the gang pay to stay the night at Mr. Skinner's?

Answer: $16

Mr. Skinner says the cabin rents for eight dollars a night, then changes it to eight dollars per couple. Skinflint Fred is so tired, he doesn't even care that they'll have to pay double!
2. Where was Ethel when the first train went by?

Answer: In the bathroom, preparing to brush her teeth.

They referred to the bathroom as "that room." After the train had gone and the other three had collected their wits, Fred called to Ethel. She emerged from the bathroom, covered with her toothpaste!
3. Who made pecan pralines?

Answer: Aunt Sally

Aunt Sally's Pecan Pralines were advertised for miles and miles. When they finally came to her shop, she had gone out of business. Said Fred, "I knew Aunt Sally was spending too much money on those signs!"
4. To what did Lucy compare their bed in the cabin?

Answer: a canoe

The bed looked normal until Lucy got into it. It had absolutely no support, and she sank right to the floor. Fred and Ethel finally switched beds with the Ricardos, insisting that their bed at home was "just like that one." (Actually, we had seen their bedroom before, and their bed was NOT just like that one; they had twin beds with fine support.)
5. Where were the Ricardos and Mertzes arrested for speeding?

Answer: Bent Fork, Tenessee

Cousin Ernie's hometown! Tennessee Ernie Ford's appearances the previous season were so successful, the writers wrote this episode just to have an opportunity to use him again.
6. How much was the fine for speeding?

Answer: $50

Lucy is so incensed that the fine is fifty dollars, she at first refuses to pay. The sheriff tells her that if she says one more word, even so much as "boo," he'll put her in jail. In typical Lucy fashion, she can't make it out of the courthouse without muttering, "boo." Says Ethel, "She just does things like that all the time; she hasn't got much sense!"
7. What are the names of the sheriff's daughters?

Answer: Teensy and Weensy

Teensy and Weensy were played by the famous Borden Twins. They performed the song "Ricochet Romance" in this episode.
8. In what motel did the gang stay the night before they arrived in Ethel's hometown?

Answer: Texas Ann Motel

The sign outside the motel is shown in the opening scene.
9. What two songs does Ethel perform during her "solo" recital?

Answer: "Shortnin' Bread" and "My Hero"

While Ethel is singing, Fred walks back and forth behind her, carrying a plant that grows, with each trip across the stage, bigger and bigger, until he is practically dragging a good-sized tree!
10. What is on the marquee at the Little Theater?

Answer: "Ethel Mae Potter -- We Never Forgot Her"

One of the many inconsistencies in the course of the series: Ethel's middle name was also said to be "Louise" and "Roberta."
