John Normand was the new owner of the phone company and it appeared as if he was deliberately stealing money from people by charging them extra taxes on their phone bills.

Drake was a former demon who made a deal with a sorcerer giving Drake humanity. The only problem was the bargain would only last for one year and then Drake would die.
