Mark is giving Abby the quick tour of the ER when he runs into Carter and Darnell (a 12-year old muscular dystrophy patient). Carter and Mark exchange a few words and Carter turns to Abby and smiles. Carter walks away and Mark says, "Oh, that was Carter, by the way."

Answer: She'd seen an old person die.

After losing June Connelly in "Be Still My Heart", Abby retreated to the roof, where she was later met by Carter. She explained to him that in OB, "98% of what you see is just pure joy. You know, it's the happiest day of most people's lives. And, um, the tragedy is horrible because it's a life cut short, it's a mom, a baby...today was the first time I'd seen an old person die, and I guess I'm just not used to it." Carter, the great guy he is, replies by asking her if she wants the good news or the bad news.

She wants the bad, so Carter says, "You never get used to it. The good news is you never get used to it. At least I haven't." And then, in response to Abby's, "So they're having a Valentine's Day party, do you think they started without us?" Carter utters the infamous foreshadowing line of "I certainly hope not...heads will roll." (Of course we all know what follows this...)

During a trauma, Carter uses half of a needle and puts the rest into his pocket. After, when everyone's gone, Carter takes out the syringe and sticks into his wrist right when Abby walks into the room. Carter tries to hide it, but she saw him (and he knows it). Carter later sees her talking to Mark and gets afraid that she told him.

A little while later Carter walks into the lounge to see Mark, Abby, and Weaver sitting at the table. Mark tells Carter what Abby saw and Carter immediately becomes defensive claiming that he "saw Abby with a needle once".

He walks out, leaving a stunned Weaver to wonder how they never noticed what was going on. Mark replies, "It's Carter, your mind just doesn't go there."

Answer: At Doc Magoo's

Earlier in the day Carter had seen Abby at an AA meeting. At the end of the day, Abby sees Carter in Doc Magoo's and sits with him. Carter tells her that she probably saved his life, then apologizes for acting like such a jerk when she told Mark. Then she tells him that she's a drunk, but has been sober for five years and that's why she was at the meeting.

They have a great conversation culminating in Carter asking Abby to be his sponser. She agrees and they split a hot fudge sundae.

Answer: "Is her airway clear?"

Carter, the gentleman, runs into the "inferno" screaming Abby's name, but Luka, the "caring" guy he is, runs in to grab the patient. Sure, he might have been going in for Abby, but Carter got there first! Carter carries her out while Luka only says a measley, "Is her airway clear?" then leaves with the patient hung over his shoulder. Abby is placed on a bed and Carter examines her, finding a cracked rib. Anyway, at some point in the season, Maggie (Abby's mother) remarks at how she has two great guys after her (I wouldn't go so far as saying Luka's a great guy, but Carter...)!

Dave backs out of working on the clown because he's afraid. Carter and Abby work on the clown instead, and during the trauma Carter asks Abby what she's doing tonight. She replies that she has a date with her couch (surprising considering she's going out with Luka). Carter asks her how dinner and dancing at the Natural History Museum sounds and she agrees to go with him. Suddenly the clown starts to crash, so Abby runs into the hall and yells, "Dr. Weaver, this clown is crashing!" and then it cuts to the opening credits.

This episode is their first date (even though they refer to it as a "non-date date").

Abby later sees Carter and mentions something about "still recovering from our break-up". They then exchange a playful banter back and forth including Carter saying, "It's just...you would never dump me." Abby then replies, "I would dump you like a bad habit."

Answer: It has split conversations

This happens twice in the episode. The first time, Carter is arguing with Rena about going to Oklahoma with Abby and Abby is arguing with Luka about going with Carter. Abby will say something to Luka, then it will switch to Rena saying something that counters what Abby just said.

Then Carter would say something to Rena to reply, and then Luka would talk. The second time this happens, Carter is on the left side of the screen and Abby on the right, with a wall separating them. They're both on the phone and it seems that they're talking with one another until Abby gets up and says Luka's name.

This is presumably when Carter and Rena break up :-)! The only live episode was the season 4 premiere "Ambush" and "Four Corners" was filmed from four different perspectives.

Answer: "...it's not doing much for me."

Carter and Abby sit by the river taking their break. Carter is obviously disturbed about something, and Abby tries to lighten things up. She, however, begins complaining about how Luka isn't able to read her moods and how she has to explain everything to him.

At the mention of Luka's name, Carter frowns. He interrupts Abby saying, "You know what? Stop it...don't talk to me about Luka." Abby blinks, surprised. Carter goes on, "I'm not your girlfriend. And I shouldn't even be here with you." Abby is puzzled, but Carter hesitates and then continues that he doesn't want to wish bad things for her and Luka, and he doesn't want to "sit on the sidelines waiting for [them] to break up." He then says that he doesn't want to be her friend, but leans in as if to kiss her.

He doesn't and stands up and walks away, leaving Abby confused.

Answer: A broken birdbath

While sitting on the bench, Abby comments on a broken birdbath and Carter responds that his grandfather liked to drive the lawn mower around. Abby asks, "into the birdbath?" Carter responds, "Not on purpose... he was having a fatal MI at the time." Abby starts to giggle and Carter starts laughing too, but they finally stop when Eleanor (Carter's mother) approaches.

Answer: "Carter can have you!"

This is an awesome scene! Luka and Abby leave Luka's "Little Croatian" bar in a heated argument. They're walking through the streets of Chicago, yelling at one another, and exchanging zingers such as Luka's, "You're not that pretty, you're not that special." Abby has her own comments, like, "And you're married to a ghost!" Finally, Luka ends by responding, "I'm saying I'm done, okay? Carter can have you!" Abby stays silent, then murmurs, "Okay."

Answer: They get arrested

Abby forgot her keys so they have to break into the apartment by way of the fire escape. They switch the tanks, but one fish does die. Abby asks, "Think we can resuscitate him?" Carter replies, "I think he's been down too long." Then they hear a knock on the door and it's the police.

The next time you see them they're sitting in the back of a police car. Carter pulls out his phone and starts to call his lawyer, but Abby asks, "What are they gonna arrest us for? Aquatic mischief?" Luka arrives, spies them sitting in the back of the car, and lets them go.

Answer: no

They share another pivotal conversation by the river, talking about how neither of them were doing anything to move their relationship forward. Abby says that she did what he had asked her to do in "Rampage" by breaking up with Luka, but Carter isn't convinced.

He doesn't think that he had asked her to break up with Luka, and thinks that Abby still likes him. Abby gets a little annoyed and walks away saying, "You don't have to settle for anything, Carter."

Answer: Tell Abby he loves her

The long-awaited Carter/Susan break up scene! After they break up, Susan says to Carter that he should tell Abby that he's "desperately in love with her and can't live another moment without her." Carter just smiles and Susan finishes by saying, "You're hopeless. You'll figure it out." To this day, we still haven't heard Carter tell Abby that he loves her! Still waiting!

Answer: "I went for you."

While awaiting a gunshot to the face Carter asks Abby how her AA meeting was. She says that it was boring, but Carter's surprised that she actually went. He then asks if, "You went for you or because you promised me you would?" Abby avoids answering by asking how bad the patient is going to look.

When the ambulance pulls in, Abby faces Carter, then turns away, and answers his question, "I went for you."
