Episode One: "Deep in Death". After digging into Beckett's mother's murder, Castle is trying to get back into Beckett's good graces. He spends the whole episode trying, before Alexis asks why boys just don't say sorry. Castle apologises to Beckett, and they go back to their unlikely partnership.

Episode Four: "Fool Me Once". After getting an advance copy of "Heat Wave" in episode three, Beckett spends this episode pretending that she hasn't started reading it to mess with Castle's head. She, of course, has been reading it, as Castle finds out towards the end.

Castle's space cowboy costume resembles his character from "Firefly", Mal Reynolds. "Vampire Weekend" also contains a "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" reference - another show that Nathan Fillion was a part of.
