Answer: Mind Your Language

'Mind Your Language' was set in a night school with foreign students trying to learn English. It was cancelled in 1979 as it was deemed politically incorrect because of its use of stereotypes.

Answer: Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere

This sitcom is of course a spin-off from 'Peter Kaye's Phoenix Nights'. The two doormen of the Phoenix Club take a trip round England in their camper-van. 'Ding Dang Do'!

Answer: Little Britain

Tom Baker (those of you who are old enough will remember him as 'Dr Who') did the hilarious voice-overs. Little Britain has produced so many catchphrases, 'I want that one', 'computer says no' and 'yeah but no but yeah but...'.

This sitcom ran for three series from 1979-1981 and was hugely popular. 'To the Manor Born' was originally intended for radio broadcast, a pilot was made but never aired.

'The Vicar of Dibley' was written by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer. Dawn French was the female vicar Geraldine Granger. It aired shortly after the Church of England allowed the ordination of women.

9. Rupert Rigsby and Ruth Jones were the main characters in this classic sitcom from the 1970s.

Answer: Rising Damp

Leonard Rossiter was Rigsby the seedy landlord of a run down house, he was in love with Miss Jones who was played by Francis De La Tour. A feature film was made in 1980; unfortunately it lacked one of the shows favourite characters played by Richard Beckinsale. Beckinsale, who also starred alongside Ronnie Barker in 'Porridge', died of a massive heart attack in 1979 at the age of thirty one.

'Early Doors' was written by Craig Cash, who also had a hand in writing 'The Royle family'. Other characters were the local Bobbies, Nige and Phil who frequented the back room of Ken's pub, they were often heard saying 'Crime won't crack itself' as they drank and smoked!
