Answer: Steptoe and Son

"Steptoe and Son" starred Wilfrid Brambell and Harry H. Corbett as rag and bone men from London. The series ran from 1962 until 1974 and spawned two spin-off movies. The American sitcom "Stanford and Son" was based on this British favourite.
2. "The Good Life" follows the fortunes of a suburban couple who decide to go self-sufficient. Which of these creatures do they NOT keep in their back garden?

Answer: Cow

Tom and Barbara Good, portrayed by Richard Briers and Felicity Kendal, lived in the posh London suburb of Surbiton, where, much to the chagrin of their neighbours, they turned their garden into an allotment. They kept numerous chickens, a goat called Geraldine and two pigs called Pinky and Perky. They never had a cow though.
3. Rowan Atkinson played the title role of "Blackadder" in four 1980s series, each set in a different historical era. What was Blackadder's first name throughout these series?

Answer: Edmund

The historical eras for the four series were, respectively, The Middle Ages, The Elizabethan Era, The Regency Period, and World War One. Each Edmund Blackadder was a descendant of the previous ones.
4. The 60s series "The Likely Lads" and its 70s follow-up "Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads" were set in which British city?

Answer: Newcastle

The "Likely Lads" were Terry Collier, played by James Bolam, and Bob Ferris, portrayed by Rodney Bewes. The original series cast them as two working class lads in their early 20s living in Newcastle. The sequel saw Terry returning home after leaving the army and renewing his friendship with the now engaged to be married Bob.
5. Leonard Rossiter played the title role in "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin". What was the name of business that he started, selling totally useless items?

Answer: Grot

Reggie Perrin was a middle-class sales executive facing a mid-life crisis. He faked his own suicide before returning under a pseudonym and opening his Grot shops, selling items such as round dice and square hoops.
6. "Hi-de-Hi!" was set in a fictional 1950s holiday camp called Maplins. What colour of coats did the staff wear?

Answer: Yellow

Maplins was based on the real holiday camp chain of Butlins, whose staff are known as Redcoats. Maplins was based in the fictional resort of Crimpton-on-Sea, and the staff were known as Yellowcoats. "Hi-de-Hi!" was the catchphrase used by staff over the camp tannoy, with guests expected to respond with "Ho-de-Ho!".

In its later years the cast of "Last of the Summer Wine" was like a who's who of British acting talent, with luminaries such as John Cleese, June Whitfield, Frank Thornton, Thora Hird, Dora Bryan and Russ Abbott appearing. Jean Alexander played junk shop owner Auntie Wainwright.

John Cleese co-wrote and starred in this series about a manic Torquay hotel owner. Prunella Scales portrayed his wife Sybil, Cleese's then-spouse Connie Booth co-write the series and played maid Polly, and Andrew Sachs portrayed Spanish waiter Manuel.
9. What was the name of the department store which was the setting for "Are You Being Served"?

Answer: Grace Brothers

"Are You Being Served" was broadcast between 1972 and 1985. Set in the fictional London department store of Grace Brothers, the series made household names of actors such as Wendy Richard, John Inman and Mollie Sugden.
10. "Dad's Army" featured the exploits of a Home Guard division during World War Two. What was the daytime job of the ARP Warden William Hodges, nemesis of Captain Mainwaring and his platoon?

Answer: Greengrocer

"Dad's Army" was set in the fictional seaside resort of Walmington-on-Sea. Bill Pertwee played the part of Air Raid Warden Hodges, and his daytime job was a greengrocer. Captain Mainwaring (Arthur Lowe) was the bank manager, Corporal Jones (Clive Dunn) was a butcher and Private Frazer (John Laurie) was an undertaker.
