Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Frances Reid's special introduction to the ten thousandth episode, she flashed back to the first. In it, whose photograph was Alice admiring with Tom?

Answer: Marie

"A lovely family, isn't it Tom?" a much younger Alice had said, delicately running her fingers along the frame of Marie's portrait. She mentioned that Marie would be the last of the children to go, and Tom said that Alice would finally have one thing she had yearned for all of their married life- enough closet space!
Ms. Reid said that it seemed like only yesterday that the first show was filmed- forty years and ten thousand later, she is the only remaining member of the original cast.
2. What color was Frances Reid wearing, in both Alice's house and in the photograph with Tom?

Answer: Red

Looking beautiful as always, Alice presented the big 10,000 wearing a bright red outfit with pearls for Valentine's Day. In her photograph with Tom, among the many others of the infamous cast, she was wearing the same bright red (and a brighter smile). Bundles of festive red flowers decorated the room, and a photo of Bo and Hope on their wedding day foreshadowed the next scene.
But first, Ms. Reid fondly thanked the audience for welcoming "Days of our Lives" from the beginning... "Then, and now, and all the days of our lives yet to come."
3. Who referred to a "simple law of nature" in this episode?

Answer: Hope

After catching Bo and his uninvited guest Billie in a less-than-friendly situation, Hope demanded that Bo make Billie leave the house. Bo tried to explain that he had only invited Billie to stay so that she wouldn't go to jail (thus delaying the search for Georgia), and that it was all an accident. Hope replied that it was a simple law of nature that whenever Billie was around, there were accidents. Bo promised that Billie would leave after the court hearing.

However, like most laws of nature, they will repeat again... and again.
4. Although he had found Sami with Brandon on their wedding day, Lucas told Sami that he still loved her and wanted to marry her.

Answer: True

Lucas did tell this to Sami... but it never happened.
There Sami stood in her wedding dress, telling the truth for once in her life before the infuriated Lucas, coniving Kate and confused Brandon. But no one believed her this time. Sami pleaded her love and it seemed that Lucas accepted when he said that he still loved her. Brandon told a devastated Kate that her plan was about to crash and burn when Lucas told Sami he couldn't marry her, and shredded their marriage license to prove it.
5. The antique ring that Rex used to propose to Mimi was inscribed with what year?

Answer: 1905

Rex hoped to cheer Mimi up and proposed to her right there in the hospital. He told her that the ring was an antique, over one hundred years old, and inscribed with a special message: R&M forever, 2/14/1905.
6. Hope was upset with Bo because he had walked in on Billie in the bathroom.

Answer: False

It was Billie who had "accidentally" walked in on Bo, and Hope was fuming. (Couldn't you just see the steam curl from her ears?) She was angry that her husband contantly had to rescue Billie, and had taken off to Europe earlier to look for Georgia with his ex-wife... twice. Bo promised that after the court hearing, Billie would move out.
7. During the hearing for Billie, how many minutes did Judge Shay give Mickey for a recess?

Answer: Two minutes

With the luck of the draw (according to Mickey, who was defending Billie) Salem's toughest judge was assigned to Billie's case. Mickey told Bo and Billie about the judge's history, including that his parents were Mayor and First Lady and that he was especially tough on members of the law enforcement who were on the "wrong side of the courtroom".

The judge allowed a two minute recess before he would throw the book at Billie and order her to jail. She pleaded to Bo to vouch as her place to stay since Mickey's house was "plenty full" already.
8. When he called from his Marine base, Philip told Belle that she was his which?

Answer: Light in the tunnel

Belle was supposed to tell her newlywed husband that she had already flown the wedding coop, but his speech about how she was his hope and love- the "light at the end of the tunnel"- convinced her otherwise. Much to Shawn's chagrin, she refused to drop the bombshell, fearing that the warfare was enough danger of its own. Philip hung up quickly, but not before telling his distressed bride that she should not worry- he would be home sooner than she thought.
9. At the end of the 10,000th episode, whose "trials and tribulations" did Alice mention?

Answer: Sami's

As Sami finally saw her wedding disaster explode (the shredding of the marriage license by her husband-to-be), Alice reappeared and wondered aloud how it could be that Sami's trials and tribulations were just beginning. What more could happen to her, she asked, or any of us? She reminded faithful soap fans to stay tuned and find out as they began the next ten thousand episodes. "For now," she added with the same smile as forty years earlier, "Goodbye, and God bless you."
10. At the end of the episode, the third photograph shown was a portrait of whom?

Answer: Doug and Julie Williams

With the classic and timeless "Sands through the hourglass" tune roaring up in the background, a collection of Alice's frames and photographs passed by to remind viewers of Salem's supercouples. The first we saw, of course, was the portrait of Alice and Tom. Next came Abe and Lexie Carver, and third was Doug and Julie Williams.

After was Shawn Brady and J.T., followed by a portrait of Sami, and supercouples Jack and Jennifer Deveraux and John and Marlena Black. John and his son Brady were next, when the camera returned to the return of Alice and Tom. Alice looked on contentedly and smiled, as the Sands continued Through the Hourglass.
