Answer: Miles Edward O'Brien

Julian is the first name of his friend, Dr. Bashir. Benjamin is Captain Sisko's first name. Yoshi is the nickname of Chief O'Brien's son.

2. So what exactly is Chief O'Brien the 'Chief' of?

Answer: Operations

O'Brien's exact title is Chief of Operations, although he is an engineer. In 'TNG,' he operated the transporter.

3. On which other 'Star Trek' show has Chief O'Brien appeared?

Before appearing on 'Deep Space Nine,' the Chief operated the transporter aboard the Enterprise on 'TNG.' In the opening episodes of season four, when Worf joins 'DS9,' we see the Chief and him discussing old times aboard the Enterprise.

The Chief has never, to my knowledge, owned a dog. He acquired his cat, Chester, in the sixth season episode 'Honor Among Thieves.' In the 'TNG' episode 'Realm of Fear' we find out that he has a pet tarantula named Christina because he used to be afraid of spiders.
(Incidentally, Spot was the name of Data's cat on 'TNG.')

The Chief can frequently be found enjoying a kayaking program in the holosuites, and he and Dr. Bashir play racquetball in a holosuite as well. (Dr. Bashir is also a skilled tennis player.) Chief O'Brien also took the liberty of setting up a dartboard in Quark's bar so that he could play darts. At one point, when the Chief was, as he put it, "in the zone," Quark began taking bets on his dart games.
Chief O'Brien frequently dislocates his shoulder while kayaking, and Dr. Bashir has to fix it for him.

The Chief likes his coffee extra strong and extra sweet. He also prefers a single malt Scotch. Tulaberry wine is something that Quark imports from the Gamma Quadrant.

The baseball player is from Commander Sisko's imagination, and though we don't know where it comes from, Odo has a lot of trouble with a large, emu-type bird running loose on the promenade.

Chief O'Brien travels a few hours into the future several times in this episode and sees many things, including his own death, which he and the rest of the crew ultimately prevent.

Answer: yellow

The uniform color indicates what department you belong to. A yellow uniform denotes operations, engineering, or tactical, so, since the Chief is the Chief of Operations, he wears a yellow uniform. (Later on in 'DS9,' the crew starts wearing uniforms that are black and gray, with the shirts that are red, yellow, or blue underneath. There are no purple uniforms. )
