Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Mark Greene offered to clear the balance of Carol Hathaway's credit card as a Christmas gift to her.

Answer: False

At the beginning of this episode, Cynthia Hooper was seen getting rather emotional over a phone call. When Mark asked her what was wrong, she revealed that her credit card had been frozen as she owed $600. Upset, Cynthia explained that she had Mark's Christmas present all "picked out", but was now unable to purchase it. Mark responded by saying that he had not bought Cynthia's present yet either, and suggested that he pay her "balance as a Christmas present", as long as she promised "not to go and spend it on" him.
2. Which member of staff revealed that she had a son?

Answer: Cynthia Hooper

When Mark spotted Cynthia wrapping children's toys, she initially told him that they were for the son of a friend. However, almost immediately, she admitted that what she had said was a lie, and the toys were actually for her own son, Jason, who lived with his grandparents, in "a trailer park right outside Kankakee". Cynthia revealed that she had not seen her child for three years, but had "talked to him on the phone a few times". Having broken up with the boy's father, and because she "wasn't really together back then", Cynthia explained to Mark that at the time she had thought the best solution was for the father's parents to take care of the boy.
3. What unexpected thing did Carter catch his cousin, Chase, doing in this episode?

Answer: Injecting drugs

In a previous episode, Carter's cousin, Chase, came to the hospital to be treated for a spider bite. However in this episode, Carter found Chase injecting drugs, leading him to believe that Chase's previous puncture wound did not come from a spider bite, but from a needle. Yet Chase insisted that he was "not an addict", as he bought only "pure stuff" and only did it when he was bored, completely dismissing Carter's concerns.
4. Who helped Jeanie, by mixing up a drug cocktail for her, after she left her HIV medication at home?

Answer: Kerry Weaver

In a previous episode, Kerry had to fire Jeanie because of budgetary constraints, only to then be forced to re-hire her after Jeanie claimed that the only reason she was fired was because of her HIV status. The pair had previously been friends, but this soon ended, despite Kerry's insistence that firing Jeanie had nothing to do with her illness. However, in this episode, when Jeanie went to take her medication, she found that she had forgotten to bring it with her to the hospital, and was forced to ask Kerry for help.
5. How did Carter's grandmother show her approval of Carol's free clinic?

Answer: By sending Carol a large Christmas tree and a cheque for $150, 000

Carter's grandmother visited the clinic in this episode, and was very interested in observing every aspect of it. Although things were not perfect, due to a Christmas tree fire and various queues and complaints from patients, Carter's grandmother sent Carol a new Christmas tree and a cheque for $150, 000, courtesy of the Carter Family Foundation.
6. Who did Mark Greene visit on Christmas Eve?

Answer: The family of Kenny Law

On Christmas Eve, Mark visited the family of Kenny Law, in order to apologise to them. Finally admitting that he was wrong, Mark told Kenny's brother, Chris, that he did not know whether the assumptions he made about Kenny were "racism or experience". But he did admit that he knew that it was not Chris who attacked him, finally laying that ghost to rest.
7. After Peter Benton touched a blind man's head, the man suddenly regained his sight, only to lose it again a few hours later.

Answer: True

A blind, homeless man temporarily regained his sight at the beginning of this episode, after Peter Benton touched his forehead. Excited by this miracle, the man left the ER, refusing to "hang around a hospital when" there was "a whole world to see". While others queried the reason behind this "miracle", Peter Benton remained skeptical.

However when the man returned a few hours later, having once again lost his sight, Peter began to realise that the blind man had been telling the truth. For although the man turned out to have a large brain tumour, (which caused the blindness in the first place), it did not explain how his sight returned.
8. Elizabeth Corday ended up spending Christmas in the UK.

Answer: False

Elizabeth had originally planned to return to the UK for Christmas, but ended up spending it in the US instead. For as she was leaving the hospital, a patient of hers came out of a coma, prompting Elizabeth to rush to her bedside.
9. Who dressed up as Santa Claus in this episode?

Answer: Carter's cousin, Chase

When Carter bumped into Carol and his grandmother, he was surprised not to see his grandfather in his usual Santa suit. Carter's grandmother then explained that his grandfather had overdone "it playing squash", leaving the task of dressing up as Santa Claus to Carter's cousin, Chase.
10. What did Carol reveal to the ER staff at the end of this episode?

Answer: she and Doug were an item again

At the end of this episode, Carol grabbed Doug by the hand and marched out to the front desk. Stating that she had an announcement to make, Carol then declared that she and Doug were back together again. However it turned out that the staff already knew, and had even placed bets on the pair. Despite this, Doug turned the tables on all of them, including Carol, by revealing that he wanted her to marry him.
