Torchwood was testing the Resurrection Glove. The Glove brings the recently deceased back to life for two minutes, and works better on those who suffered violent deaths.

Gwen's surname is Cooper, while her boyfriend Rhys' last name is Williams. They live together in an apartment in Cardiff.

Jack says this is probably because "there was once a dimensionally transcendental chameleon circuit placed right on this spot, which welded its perception properties to a spatial-temporal rift".
