Everyone is gearing up for the new hockey season in Dog River including Wanda who decided to bring a megaphone to work to practice her announcing. Brent and Hank try to play hockey outside the gas station, but have to stop when a car pulls up.

Hank goes to The Ruby and asks Lacey for chocolate milk rather than his usual coffee. He says that he's getting prepared for hockey which begins that week. Lacey, like most Canadians, also gets excited that hockey is returning.

Rocket is a member of the Stonewood Saints. Brent declines the offer to switch teams and Rocket says that he's making a bad decision. He tells him to watch out, otherwise he'll be scored on every game.

The team fights to keep Brent and plans the compensation package before Brent even arrives at the meeting. Although they planed this, they also argues for ten minutes about how much a hockey puck weighs.

Emma doubts that Oscar could fix the car because he never seems to know what he's doing, and before they leave the house, Emma threatens to throttle Oscar with an extension cord. Oscar says that if the car starts, she has to shut up, and she agrees to it. Luckily, the car does start, but they still don't get to see the game.

When Brent tells Wanda to change the song "Who Let the Dogs Out?" (by the Baha Men), she ends up changing the song to the tune of "Jingle Bells" sung by a dog. Everyone in the audience remains enthusiastic during the song, but both Hank and Brent are disappointed.

Although Emma and Oscar make it to the arena, they can't leave their car because the electric door lock won't budge. While they try and open the door, Karen offers to break open the window, but they tell her to go and find something to jimmy open the door with. Instead, Karen decides to go watch the hockey game.

Rather than wait for the team to ask her to coach, Lacey eases herself in by performing a few little tasks. Eventually, Lacey is giving them entire strategies. When Wanda realizes that Lacey is coaching, she announces it, and the Dog River crowd gives a standing ovation.

Dog River and Stonewood end up tying the game, and although Stonewood is depressed with the tie, Dog River is ecstatic. Lacey is praised for coaching the team for a near-victory, and Oscar and Emma manage to get out of their car when Karen realizes that Oscar knocked one of the wires loose on the battery.
