Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the episode "The Beasts of Dublith", the first episode that Greed appeared in, Greed was seen at his hideout, "The Devil's Nest", where he was the leader of a group of what type of humans/creatures?

Answer: chimeras

The chimeras that worked for Greed were all humans that had been crossed with animals. The chimeras were Martel, who was part snake, Dolcetto, who was part dog, Roa, who was part cow, and Bido, who was part lizard. There was also another chimera that was part crocodile.

There were also some other chimeras that were only seen for a moment when they were being killed. All of the chimeras, especially Martel, Dolcetto, Roa, and Bido, were very loyal to Greed.
2. Because of his interest in how a soul could be bonded to something, who did Greed order his friends to capture?

Answer: Alphonse Elric

Bido was sent to spy on Alphonse to see if the rumors that a soul could be bonded to a suit of armor were true. Later Alphonse received a note that told him to go to the Devil's Nest. There he was attacked by Dolcetto, Roa, and Martel. Martel climbed inside of Al's armor and slowed him down, so that the other chimeras could capture him. Greed asked him exactly how he got his body, but Alphonse said that he couldn't really remember. Greed said he wanted to learn to transmute a soul to something so that he could really be immortal.

He said that having a body like that sounded perfect. Greed also tried to force Edward to tell him how to do it, but he refused to tell him anything.
3. Greed, like the other homunculi, was sometimes called something other than just simply their name. For example, Lust was sometimes referred to as "Lust the Lascivious". Greed often called himself "Greed the __________".

Answer: Avaricious

The other homunculi are Envy the Jealous, Wrath the Furious, Pride the Arrogant, Gluttony the Voracious, and Sloth the Indolent. All of the homunculi were named after the seven deadly sins. The seven homunculi were created when Father tried to perfect himself by getting rid of these seven bad traits.
4. When Greed refused to rejoin Father and the other homunculi, what did Father do to him?

Answer: He dropped him into a vat of boiling liquid

When Father asked Greed why he had betrayed him, Greed said that he was just being himself and that he wanted to do more than spend his life working for him. Father asked Greed if he would rejoin him, and Greed replied, "Never!". Greed was then dropped into the vat of boiling liquid so that he would be melted down into a liquid Philosopher's Stone. Greed was even defiant then.

After he was melted down, Father drank the liquid Philosopher's Stone.
5. For a good reason, who was Greed often mistaken for?

Answer: Ling Yao

The reason that he was often mistaken for Ling was because Father used Ling's body and a Philosopher's Stone when he brought Greed back to life, so Greed and Ling shared the same body. They often switched who was in control of the body, depending on whose skills were better suited for what they were currently doing. Later, they were able to work together even better, and Ling was able to use Greed's power while being in control. Greed was often mistaken for Ling, especially by Ed and Lan Fan, and he would always reply with a response like, "Nope, just Greed.", or something similar to that.
6. Bido was one of Greed's first followers/friends. He thought that Greed had been killed, but after learning that Greed might still be alive, he decided to find him no matter what. Bido managed to find Greed, but was killed shortly after seeing his friend again. Who killed him?

Answer: Greed

Bido found Greed in some tunnels that Greed had been ordered to guard. Bido recognized Greed almost immediately, even though his appearance was a little different, but Greed did not remember Bido at all. Bido desperately tried to get Greed to remember him.

Then Greed pretended to remember him, and then he killed him. Ling became very angry because Greed killed one of his friends. Ling told him that if he'd kill his friends, the only thing he chose, he didn't deserve to be called "Greed". Then all of Greed's memories returned.
7. When Greed introduced himself to Al, which of these things did he say that he wanted?

Answer: Everything you can think of

Greed's full quote was "See, I'm Greed. I want everything you can think of! Money and women. Power and sex. Status! Glory! I demand the finer things! And, of course, I crave eternal life!". Greed, as his name implied, was very greedy.
8. In the episode "The Promised Day", Greed encountered Edward and the two chimeras that were travelling with him. Ed learned that Greed had once again decided not to work for Father, and was travelling alone. Ed asked Greed if he wanted to join his team. Did Greed accept his offer?

Answer: No

Greed laughed and refused Ed's offer. Then he replied, "It's a different story if you want to join my team. You're welcome to team up with me.". Ed thought about it, and to Greed's surprise, agreed to follow him. The chimeras that were travelling with Ed decided that they would follow Greed too because they didn't have much of a choice.
9. Which homunculus did Greed despise the most because they killed many of his friends?

Answer: Wrath

After Greed's memory returned in "The Promised Day", he attacked Wrath. He remembered seeing Wrath killing his chimera friends, and angrily asked, "Why did you take my possessions away from me?!". Greed (and Ling) fought Wrath again later, and severely injured him, but he escaped before they could kill him. Eventually, Wrath was killed by Scar. Greed saw Wrath's dead body, and said that it made him angry to see the peaceful look on his face.
10. All of the homunculi were much harder to kill than humans, and they also each possessed a different kind of power. The name for Greed's power was "The _______ ______".

Answer: Ultimate Shield

The name of Wrath's power was the Ultimate Eye, and the name of Lust's power was the Ultimate Spear. None of the other homunculi had a special name for any of their abilities. Greed used his power by rearranging the carbon in his body, which could make his body as hard as diamond. Sometimes Greed chose to use his Ultimate Shield on only his fists, while other times he chose to use it on his entire body. Greed also had the ability to heal extremely quickly.
11. Was Greed the only homunculi that sided with humans instead of Father?

Answer: Yes

None of the other homunculi seemed to have a problem working for Father, and they remained loyal to him until they were killed. The only time Greed did follow Father's orders was for a short time after Father revived him.
12. In the episode "A Fierce Counterattack", Ling talked to Greed and got him to admit that he didn't really want supreme power or the entire planet. What did Greed realize that he really wanted?

Answer: To have friends

Greed stopped for a minute and watched how hard Edward and all the other people around him were fighting. Then Ling asked, "Greed, this is what you desperately wanted, isn't it?". Greed answered, "Yeah, you're right. This is what I wanted. I wanted the chance to have friends like these."
13. What did Greed say he never did, but ended up doing right before he was absorbed by Father?

Answer: lied

Father was trying to absorb Greed out of Ling's body to gain his Philosopher's Stone. Ling tried to fight to keep Greed from being absorbed, and risked being killed. Greed told Ling that they would work together to keep from being pulled into Father's body.

Then Greed punched Ling, and he let himself be absorbed. Ling was shocked, and yelled that Greed had said that he never lied. Greed said that that was his first and only lie.
14. How did Greed weaken Father enough so that Ed could kill him?

Answer: He turned his body into the weakest form of carbon

Father succeeded in absorbing Greed and his Philosopher's Stone. Then he realized that his body had become weak and brittle, and he asked Greed why he had betrayed him. Greed replied, "I've always had a rebellious streak, Pops. Don't act so surprised. I've reversed the Ultimate Shield you gave me, turning your body into the most fragile carbon there is."
15. Greed was killed in the final fight with Father.

Answer: True

After Greed weakened Father, Father ripped Greed's essence out of his body, and Greed began to dissolve. As Greed was dying, he had a flashback of Ling telling him that his friends will always be a part of him, and a flashback of Ed offering him to team up with him.

Then Greed thought, "I can't believe I let Ling and the little runt talk to me that way. Aw, I've had enough. Yeah, that's all I really need. They gave me everything I could want." Then he said, "Thank you, and goodbye, my friends."
