Question 1 of 10
1. Oh, okay, so I guess we're in the desert, as there is sand everywhere. Up ahead I see Buffy, who is sitting on a log, gazing intently at a blazing fire, with Achilles sitting directly behind her. The sand makes tiptoeing towards Achilles an arduous and pain staking process, so I am glad when he starts to make his way back to me. My relief is short-lived however, when I catch a glimpse of a frightening figure on the other side of the fire. Its long, wild hair and ghostly-white face sends shivers down my spine, and so I grab Achilles, turn on my heel and run away, the words "Death is your gift" ringing out behind me. Who on earth is this eerie figure? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Oh-oh, now we're in trouble! I see what looks like a building site, with scaffolding on one side, next to a large, open, concrete space. From the safety of the scaffolding, some of the Scoobies, as well as all the Potential Slayers, stare in horror at the frightening spectacle playing out in front of them. For down below, Buffy is battling a terrifyingly ugly and unexpectedly strong beast, which is intent on destroying her. Amidst this hubbub, a mischievous Achilles is chasing his tail in the background, forcing me to crawl on my hands and knees towards him. Fearing for my life, I pluck Achilles from the ground, and run away from the scene. As I do so, I ponder the question, what on earth is the thing Buffy is fighting here? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Oh no! Achilles has run inside Sunnydale High School, where it's deathly quiet, and very gloomy! In fact, the building looks to have been abandoned, which makes me very nervous about what's inside. Trying to keep my voice even, I call out for Achilles, nearly jumping out of my skin when he suddenly appears. I then catch sight of a pure, white light, which is coming from a nearby classroom. Peering hesitantly through the keyhole, I see a white-haired Willow, who is radiating with light, a weapon of some kind on the floor, in front of her. Mesmerised, I remember that this is the moment Willow alters the Slayer line forever. But what weapon helps her do this? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. This time, my search for Achilles takes no time at all, as the little pup is just standing in the middle of a Sunnydale street, gazing in the direction of the town's clock tower. Glad to have found him quickly, as it is night time, I head over to him, only to realise that every muscle in his little body is rigid and tense. As the hairs on the back of my neck begin to rise, my eyes detect movement up ahead, and much to my horror, a bone-chilling sight greets me. For four well-dressed, briefcase-carrying figures hover over the ground, their skull-like heads nodding politely at each other, like macabre business men negotiating a deal. Pulling Achilles into my arms, I hot-foot it in the opposite direction, all the while asking myself, who or what are these awful creatures? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. We're in the Summers' residence this time around, and as I reach the top of the stairs, the front door opens, and Buffy enters, causing me to hold my breath and pray that I'm hidden from view. From one of the bedrooms, Achilles yawns to himself, and I decide its time for us to take our chances. Tucking my wayward pup under my arm, I carefully creep down the stairs, until I see something that brings me to a horrified halt. From my vantage point, I see a woman laid out on her back on the couch. Her eyes are open, but are blank and unseeing. As Buffy approaches the woman, I turn away, and run for the door, tears blurring my vision. Which much-loved character is it that now lies dead on the Summers' couch? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Okay, something is really off about this next scene, and even Achilles is looking a tad bit confused. We're a little way off from the action, but it's easy enough to see and hear everything that's going on. I've never seen Spike wearing tweed before, but here he is wearing just that, like a mini Giles in training. Even stranger, he and Giles are on a swing set, and are merrily swinging back and forth, while Buffy sits cross-legged in front of them, playing by herself in a sand box. It is a bright, sunny day, but something about this scene makes me shiver and, sensing my unease, Achilles ambles over and hides behind my legs. Racking my brains, I continue to ask myself, is this really an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"?

Question 7 of 10
7. I've never been a fan of cemeteries, but once again, Achilles is on the loose, and is enjoying playing hide and seek among the gravestones. Just as I scoop up my playful pup, his ears prick up, prompting me to hide us behind a particularly large monument. I'm expecting the worst, so when I look up and see Spike singing to a mighty awkward-looking Buffy, I am momentarily flabbergasted. Achilles' wriggling quickly brings me to my senses, as, much to my amusement, Spike leaps onto a coffin, singing his heart out. With this imprinted on my mind, I race off in the opposite direction, quietly humming Spike's song to myself. What is the name of this song of Spike's? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Great! Achilles has dragged me into another spooky patch of greenery, and it's so dark I can barely see the ground. I hear something small scampering around, and sure enough, there is Achilles, looking a little forlorn with his matted fur and shivering limbs. I cradle him in my arms, before catching sight of a flickering candle, and curiosity gets the best of me. Cloaked in darkness, Achilles and I slowly make our way towards the light, only to be struck dumb by the sight of Willow, who is surrounded by an eerie red glow. She has her arms stretched out, and she looks to be in considerable pain. Moreover I am certain that I see things moving under her skin. Sickened, I flee the scene, just as Willow bellows, "Osiris, release her!" Who on earth is the "her" that Willow is referring to here? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. This time, Achilles has run towards a residential area, and I am forced to give chase. Cornering him in a stone courtyard, I go to grab him, but he merely turns on his heel and disappears through an open front door. I head on after him, but am prevented from entering, by a scuffle involving Angel, who is fighting one mighty angry tribesman. Suddenly Achilles reappears, and leaps into my arms, whimpering fearfully. As I peek through the open door I spot the reason for Achilles' hasty retreat, just as Spike verbalises it, by bellowing at Buffy, "You made a bear!" Sure enough, a huge brown bear stands in what looks to be the remnants of Giles' living room. Not wishing to be eaten, I head towards safety, and hope that the gang do eventually get to enjoy their holiday meal. What particular holiday is it that is being celebrated in this episode? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Achilles and I are in dire straits now, as we are trapped in the Magic Box with Dark Willow on the rampage. Things really look to be very bad, and both Achilles and I are quaking in our boots as Buffy and Willow circle each other. The pale, dark-haired, veiny Willow mutters on about power, punctuating her words with a bolt of magic that smashes Buffy into a desk. Her mouth then twists into a smug smile, and with the Slayer lying injured on the floor, Dark Willow announces confidently that "there's no one in the world with the power to stop me now". These ominous words echo around the room, but suddenly, out of nowhere, a blast of green light comes from the direction of the doorway, and a voice states calmly, "I'd like to test that theory". Who is it that has saved the day here? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Its long, wild hair and ghostly-white face sends shivers down my spine, and so I grab Achilles, turn on my heel and run away, the words "Death is your gift" ringing out behind me. Who on earth is this eerie figure?

Answer: The first slayer

Buffy is told "Death is your gift" in the eighteenth episode of season five, entitled "Intervention". Fearing that she is destined to be hard and unfeeling, Buffy embarks on a spiritual quest, which takes place in the desert and brings her face to face with her spiritual guide, who takes the form of Sineya, the first vampire slayer.

She tells Buffy that while she is "full of love", it is in fact death which is her gift. This little snippet of information only starts to make sense in the final episode of this season, aptly entitled "The Gift", which is the episode in which Buffy sacrifices herself to save her sister, Dawn.

Answer: An ubervamp

Ubervamps are a race of incredibly powerful vampires, who are immune from many of the things that can be used to kill other vampires. Also referred to as the Turok-Han, they are unaffected by crosses, and all holy water does is slow them down for a brief moment.

Having been badly beaten in her previous meetings with the sole ubervamp to escape from the Hellmouth, Buffy finally gets her chance to return the favour in the eleventh episode of season seven, entitled, "Showtime". The Potential Slayers' confidence in Buffy is at an all-time low in this episode, due to the fact that she herself has barely managed to escape her previous encounters with the ubervamp alive. As Molly, (one of the Potentials), points out to her, "Buffy, you fought the Turok-Han, and it almost killed you", causing another Potential, Chloe, to add, "And you're the real Slayer". Realising that she is losing them, Buffy decides to take drastic action, and enlists the help of her friends to lure the girls to one of Xander's building sites, where the Potentials witness her final showdown with the ubervamp, which is the scene detailed in the question above.

Answer: A scythe

In the twenty-second episode of the seventh season, entitled "Chosen", which is the very last episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", Buffy makes the decision to change the way in which the Slayer line is organised. In an impressive speech to her friends and the Potentials, she repeats the familiar line, "In every generation, one slayer is born", before dismissing it, pointing out that this is only because "a bunch of men who died thousands of years ago made it that way". She then acknowledges that they "were powerful men", before gesturing towards Willow, and stating, "This woman is more powerful than all of them combined". Buffy then says, "So I say we change the rule. I say my power, should be our power", before revealing that the plan is for Willow to "use the essence of the scythe to change" their destiny. This spine-tingling moment is only revealed, (via a flashback), near the end of the episode, shortly before the scene described in the question, during the moment in which Willow is preparing to perform the spell that will change the Slayer line forever.

The scythe Willow uses is an ancient weapon, which was designed with the Slayer in mind. Forged by a group of women named the Guardians, the scythe represents the mystical essence of the Slayer, which is precisely why Willow uses it to activate all Potential Slayers.
Pulling Achilles into my arms, I hot-foot it in the opposite direction, all the while asking myself, who or what are these awful creatures?

Answer: The Gentlemen

The Gentlemen are a group of hovering demons, who steal the voices of Sunnydale's residents in the tenth episode of season four, entitled "Hush". Never speaking themselves, they are accompanied by straight-jacketed demons, who follow them on their quest to harvest the seven human hearts they need in order to stay alive. During the episode, they manage to acquire three hearts before Buffy is able to stop them, with the help of Initiative member, Riley Finn. Once the pair manage to release the stolen voices of the residents of Sunnydale, Buffy is able to use her own voice to scream, and thus defeat the Gentlemen.

Answer: Joyce Summers

Buffy finds her mother, Joyce Summers, dead on their living-room couch, at the end of "I Was Made to Love You", and again at the beginning of the sixteenth episode of series five, entitled "The Body". It is later revealed that Joyce died of a ruptured brain aneurism, caused by complications relating to her brain tumour and earlier surgery. Throughout her time on the series, Joyce, played by Kristine Sutherland, was a maternal figure for most of the characters. Even vampire Spike admits in the next episode, entitled "Forever", that he "liked the lady", and is seen bringing flowers to the Summers' residence to remember her by.

Answer: Yes

This surreal scene is from the twenty-second episode of season four, (which is also the series four finale), entitled "Restless". Having finally defeated Adam, the gang take a well-earned break from demon fighting, and plan a movie marathon at the Summers' residence.

However, within seconds of the first film being played, Buffy, Willow, Giles and Xander are all sound asleep, and during their slumber, each one experiences some pretty odd dreams. The scene mentioned in the question comes from Xander's dream, which shows Giles and Spike getting on like a house on fire, so much so that the latter reveals that the former is teaching him to be a Watcher.

At the same time, Buffy sits in front of them, pouring sand into a bucket, and when Xander exclaims, "There you are!", she responds cryptically with "Are you sure it's us you're looking for?" Xander's dream is a product of his innermost fears, and the fact that it keeps bringing him back to his parents' basement, (which it does, habitually), reminds us that while the others have all moved forward during the course of this season, Xander is still struggling to find his way.

Answer: Rest In Peace

"Once More, with Feeling" is the seventh episode of season six, and is known as the musical episode. Unfortunately for Spike, when Buffy turns up at his crypt, hoping that he'll know who or what is causing everyone to act as if they are in a musical, he himself suddenly bursts into song.

Moreover his song, entitled "Rest In Peace", details the torture of being in love with Buffy, but not having her respond in the way he wants her to. However Spike doesn't have to wait much longer to kiss his beloved Buffy, as, at the end of the episode, following her revelation to her friends that they tore her out of heaven, Buffy and Spike kiss.

Answer: Buffy

"Bargaining (Part 1)" is the first episode of season six, and is notable for being the episode in which Buffy is brought back to life by Willow, Tara, Xander and Anya. The four of them keep their plans a secret, knowing that Giles in particular will not be pleased, (and with good reason), that Willow is meddling with such dangerously dark magic.

Indeed Willow withstands a considerable amount during her attempt to bring Buffy back from the dead, and though she believes that the urn breaks before the spell is complete, Buffy is indeed resurrected.

However she is forced to claw her way out of her coffin, and rather than having been languishing in a Hell dimension, it is revealed during a later episode, that she was in fact in Heaven.

Answer: Thanksgiving

The scene described in the question comes from the eighth episode of season four, entitled "Pangs". This is the episode that Buffy tries to make Thanksgiving dinner for everyone, only to have it spoiled by a vengeful spirit, who is trying to avenge his people, who were killed by white settlers. With the perfect balance of seriousness and humour, this episode sees poor Xander contract mystical syphilis, while a restrained Spike tries desperately to dodge flying arrows, and everyone else struggles to avoid telling Buffy that her ex, Angel, is back in town.

Answer: Rupert Giles

Dark Willow emerges during season six of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", following the death of Tara Maclay, who is a member of the Scoobie gang, and is also Willow's girlfriend. As a result, Willow totally loses control, and gives in to the darkest of all magic, and embarks on a mission of vengeance, determined to hunt down and kill the trio she sees as responsible for Tara's death.

By the time she has her showdown with Buffy, which is covered briefly in the question above, she has already killed Warren, by flaying him, hence the title of the episode - "Two to Go".

When Giles steps in to incapacitate Willow, (albeit briefly), it really seems that had he not, Willow would have gone on to kill her best friend.
