They were pilots because it was a luft-stalag , which means it is a prisoner of war camp for the air force. There was not a doctor in the camp that was spoken about in the show though.

General Albert Burkhalter was portrayed by Leon Askin. He was also involved in the tv show 'The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle'. Although he was a lower rank than Colonel Klink, Major Hochstetter was the main Gestapo officer in the show and bossed Klink around.

In the episode 'Six Lessons from Madame LaGrange,' Major Hochstetter got caught dancing with Lebau and got in a lot of trouble. Field Marshal Von Heinke was portrayed by John Myhers and appeared in one episode, 'The General Swap'. Hermann Göring was mentioned in the show and was a leader of the Nazi party.

Shot put is a sport in which a person tries to put (throw) a heavy metal ball as far as they can. Klink had many close calls with her wanting to get married to him, but with Hogan's help he always was able to get away.

Even though they did have tunnels under the sink and under the furnace that were used in different episodes, they mainly used the entrance under one of the bunks. The whole system of tunnels is huge. The tunnels go to places like the cooler, the dog kennel, outside of the fence, and to all of the barracks but one.

In that episode, Colonel Hauptmann hid a map of submarine pens in his roll-up window curtains. Colonel Klink had to defend him in front of General Burkhalter. Hogan and his crew took the audio recordings that the Germans had of him and changed them to make it sound like his secretary was the guilty one.

They were in the camp throughout the course of the show. it wasn't the only place they were though, they also went out to other stalags, hotels, banks, etc. They always remained in stalag 13, the 'inescapable' prison camp.
