As House questions the girl, he quickly ascertains their relationship. He deftly notices the lack of physical similarities and some other incongruities with respect to dress and demeanor. They are only posing as father and daughter in order to obtain medication.

Having uncovered an ineptly disguised subterfuge, House asks the teenage girl to remain. She demands an explanation and suggests that House is going to turn her in to the authorities. House replies, "No, so you can stop bleeding out of your ear." After a cursory examination, the girl wants to know what may be wrong with her. House says, "I have no idea."

Answer: "Because I can."

Taub asks, "Why did you ask us to meet you thirty miles away from the hospital? House displays the conspicuous absence of his ankle collar and replies, "Because, I can." The team proceeds to analyze the current case. Revealing a potential ulterior motive, House takes a photo of Foreman entering the restaurant with another woman, who happens to be married. Nevertheless, at the conclusion, House departs and Taub is left with the bill.

Answer: diarrhea

Two brothers dressed in American Civil War confederate army uniforms speak to House in character. As can be expected, House does not take them seriously. One brother says, "Well, he got the runs, and we do need him up at at 'em for battle tomorrow." House makes some sarcastic comments and the General becomes riled.

The brother attempts to calm his brother by saying, "We swore that we should see the elephant together." Even House is perplexed by this obscure statement. He then gives the ailing General some medication for diarrhea.

Answer: turtle

Hilariously enough, House takes his team to a turtle race. Apparently, it's all about the betting. So, House accepts a wager from Dr. Park. House practically never bets on an unforeseen result or without advance knowledge. Even so, Dr. Park suggests, "100 bucks says he'll (Mr. Chips) make soup out of Franklin." House gleefully takes the bet.

As the turtles are wending their awkward path toward the finish line, the team is discussing the current case. The race is finished. House chimes, "Mr. Franklin rules. Mr. Chips drools." House wins the bet.

Answer: The girl's symptoms may be explained by alcoholism.

As Taub and Adams relay the diagnosis provided by House, the girl detects some note of reluctance on the part of Adams. The teenager says, "But, you don't buy it." Adams candidly announces, "I think your symptoms are the result of alcohol abuse." Naturally, the girl denies the accusation and requests to proceed with the surgery.

Answer: She returns the medication to House.

House has a somewhat brutal and candid discussion with the mother. He tells the mother that her daughter hates her. After the conversation, House purposely leaves his pain medication behind in order to see how the mother would handle it. The mother looks at the medication and has a brief moment of temptation.

However, she returns the medication to House and demands that her daughter be treated for alcohol abuse. House seems inwardly pleased that she passed the test.

Answer: antimony poisoning

The brothers return to see House. They are experiencing the same symptoms. House then examines the uniforms. House notes that the uniform material is made from polyester instead of wool. House notes, "You wear badly processed polyester all day and all night for days and nights, you get antimony poisoning."

Answer: a parasitic roundworm infection

House has a sudden inspiration from Adams. House asks the mother whether her daughter had gone swimming in Florida. The mother acknowledges that her daughter had gone swimming in a canal. House announces, "Your daughter has Ascariasis. It fits with all of the symptoms and House prescribes the appropriate medication.

Answer: "True ... no limp."

Foreman probably shares many of the same attributes of House, but Foreman is reluctant to admit the fact. House recognizes that Foreman is similar to House in many respects and says so. Foreman seems to tacitly acknowledge this fact.
