When Jack told Sayid his plan of moving the survivors to the caves, Sayid was less than enthusiastic about the idea. In fact, he was downright angry, saying that their best hope of rescue was staying on the beach and that "digging in" was suicide. As he got up to leave, Sayid said, "I'm not going to admit defeat".

When Walt asked Michael what he did to Jin to provoke the attack, Michael was surprised that Walt would ask such a thing. Michael asked Walt what his mother had said about him, and Walt said that she had never talked about him. Michael found out that Walt didn't even know his father's birthday. At the end of the episode, Walt asked Michael when his birthday was.

When Kate asked where the bodies had come from, Jack asked her if she remembered the shooting of the polar bear. In a flashback, Sun came home one day and found a present from Jin, which turned out to be a puppy. Jin said he got it for her because he had been working long hours and he thought she would like the company. Sun liked the puppy, but she reminded Jin of the time when all he had to give her was a flower. Just then, Jin's phone rang, and he hurried to answer it, as it was her father. Later, when Sun was discussing her plan to leave Jin with the decorator, she asked the woman to take care of her dog when she was gone.

After bringing back water from the caves, Jack gave Jin a bottle of water while he was handcuffed in the hot sun. He told Jin to drink it slowly and to drink just a little bit at a time. This was a very nice gesture, considering that Jack knew what Jin had done.

As poor Charlie was standing on the beehive, Jack was trying to use a suitcase to cover the hive so that Charlie could move off the hive. Charlie was extremely skeptical of the plan and didn't think it would work. He was also scared out of his mind of the bees.

When Charlie forgot himself and slapped at a bee, he accidentally stomped through the hive, releasing a horde of angry bees. Everyone ran away to the caves, and Charlie was stung multiple times. This action resulted in Kate discovering the two bodies.

When Jack and Kate came back with water for the others, they approached Sayid in the jungle chopping wood. Sayid was very happy to see the water. This was where he told Jack and Kate about the problem with Jin. He also said that he was going to try to talk to Sun.

Jack led Kate, Charlie, and Locke to the caves and water source that he had found. Kate asked how he had found them, and Jack answered, "luck". He did not tell them that his dead father led him to the location. That was probably very wise.

As Sun watched Michael working in the jungle, she remembered her plan to leave Jin in a flashback. This seemed to strengthen her resolve, and she approached Michael. She said to him, "I need to talk to you", in English. No one had ever heard her speak English before this. Michael was understandably shocked. Sun said that her husband didn't know she spoke English due to his bad temper, a fact Michael was well aware of. Sun explained to him that the whole incident had occurred over the watch Michael was wearing it was her father's, and protecting it was a matter of honor for Jin.

Answer: Sawyer

Jin attacked Michael on the beach, apparently for no reason at the time. He was punching Michael, and it even looked like he was trying to drown him. Sayid and Sawyer rushed over to break up the fight. Sayid tackled Jin, and Sawyer pulled Michael out of the water and helped him to the beach. Sayid told Sawyer to give him the handcuffs, to which Sawyer obliged. Sawyer then helped Sayid wrestle with Jin and bring him under control.
