Answer: He rode a bicycle in the nude

While Daddy does all these things in the years to come, the very first episode is the one when he rides the bike with no clothes on. In the early days he was never seen.

2. The security system which was installed as a last-minute gift needed a security number to disable it. What date was chosen?

Answer: Richard and Hyacinth's wedding

This was not a wise choice, given that Richard had forgotten their anniversary and made a swift decision to get Hyacinth alarmed as a present. The episode was actually entitled 'Hyacinth is Alarmed' and was first aired in September 1995.

3. Why was Hyacinth so anxious that the neighbours see her new suite being delivered?

Answer: The delivery van had a royal crest on the side

Unfortunately for Hyacinth the neighbours were not watching at the right time, so she asked the delivery men to go around again, While they were driving around the corner they were involved in an accident and Onslow just happened to come past. They moved the suite to his battered van and delivered it from that. Poor Hyacinth!

4. What did Emmet usually complain about where Hyacinth was concerned?

Hyacinth actually thought that Emmet was enamoured of her, because of his reaction to her presence, but he was really desperate to avoid her. Although Hyacinth cannot sing to save her life, Patricia Routledge actually has a lovely singing voice; I have a record of 'The Sound of Music' where she plays the Mother Superior and sings 'Climb Every Mountain'.

Hyacinth expected Richard to produce beautiful films; what actually happened was that he was seen filming and a report was made to the police, who came and arrested him.

Hyacinth's slobbish brother-in-law may have been a lazy eyesore, but he was no thug, nor was he inclined to swearing, which is a refreshing change these days.

The attic flat is so small it is barely big enough for a couple, let alone a gathering such as Hyacinth has invited. With furniture added, a person had to manoeuvre around a door just to get into the room, and then get out of the way so another person could enter afterwards.

While we never see Sheridan, we do meet Stephanie in the last episode of the first series, when the family gather for her child's Christening. This is one of the few times we see Onslow dressed up, and he looks good!

Every so often the words "Early retirement" would drift from his direction as he slept-walked through the hours; he forgot to open the car door for Hyacinth, and then went back into the house when they were going out, and generally was not on the planet at all. The prospect of 24-hour Hyacinth was just too much for the poor man.
