Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Before you get on the show, you have to try out. You sit in one of the chairs and start looking around. First, you see a man claiming he won the most money on "Press Your Luck". He has blond hair and a cheap suit, but he doesn't know that there are more than five patterns this time. Who is this man?

Answer: Michael Larson

Michael Larson came onto peoples' televisions on June 8, 1984 to surprise everyone getting more big bucks than anyone on "Press Your Luck". He discovered the 5 patterns after looking at the lights on the big board over and over again and figured out there was a pattern. He went on to the show to win $110237 in cash and prizes. His competitors were Ed Long and Janie Litras.
2. After the producers won't put him on the show, a woman comes up to you and asks for good luck because last time she didn't have as much good luck. I suppose $31408 will tell you why. Which woman lost all this money?

Answer: Cathy Singer

Cathy Singer and Lori Moran fought in a spin battle until Cathy lost the spin along with all the cash and prizes. Lori eventually won with $24685.

Beverlie Peters was in Lori's second show and won $6800 in cash and a video recorder.

Becky Steeler came onto "Press Your Luck" and won $33410 in one day.
3. The first two questions were easy ones, but it gets harder as you go into the interview! You tell the interviewers you've watched a lot of "Press Your Luck". They decide to ask some "Press Your Luck" master trivia. They ask this question. A woman named Adele in the episode Adele/Bob/Lee was a huge risk taker. What total did she have before she passed her spins?

Answer: $20414

Adele has spun her spins up to $20414 without hitting a whammy. She has gone 16 spins without hitting one and won $28933 on the show.
4. More master trivia. Take it from me, the answer is not $31407, but what was the second highest amount of money ever lost on the show?

Answer: $30518

A man named Robert came on the show twice in two years due to a technical problem. He won $4000 in his December shows and lost $30518 on April 1st on the last spin. His competitors in his last show were Kate and Bob.
5. Here we go with another master trivia question. The pressure's on as the interviewers ask you their last question. They say those other two questions were a piece of cake, but this one is not. You know Michael Larson won $110237 in cash and prizes. Well how much of it was cash?

Answer: $104950

A lot of money to win. If you got the right answer and did the math, you would hopefully figure out he had $5287 in prizes. That included a sailboat, a trip to Kauai, and a trip to the Bahamas.
6. Now you answered our last master trivia question. They look at what you know and they welcome you to the show! Now you get on stage for taping and meet your competitors. The host says that it's time for a "Press Your Luck" trivia question. You put your hands on your buzzer and Peters asks this question. What is the highest amount of money you could hit in round 2 that doesn't give away a spin? One of your competitors buzzes in early and says $5000. What is the correct answer?

Answer: $2500

In 1984, the color of $2500 was green and when the board had neon lights, $2500 was blue. Hopefully you got it right and you got a spin for our board.
7. Now the question round is over! Here we go, big bucks time! $25000 on the board that's cash and prizes. However, there are some whammies so be careful. Let's start with you, 4 spins and $0. You start spinning and yell stop as you hit the biggest cash amount on the round 1 board. What is it?

Answer: $1500

On "Press Your Luck", the three squares in square 4 in round 1 are $1500, $1000, and $1250. In 1983, the highest amount was $1250 because $1500 was originally $750.
8. You definitely want to go on. Cheerful, you yell stop. The space you hit puts you into five figures! What is this special space you hit?

Answer: Add-A-One

Add-A-One premiered in 1985 and it can turn $1000 to $11000, $100 to $1100, and $0 to $10. In the first six days of its creation, it has been hit four times. It is a square that only appears once. So once you hit it, it's gone.
9. It's the end of round 1 and you have a lot of money! It's time for one last master trivia question. How much was a Mediterranean Cruise in March 1985?

Answer: $6298

In March, the Mediterranean Cruise was on square 15. It was the second most valuable prize during that time.
10. Finally, you go to round 2 and you have 1 spin passed to you. You take it and hit the only space in pink with a spin. How much cash did you get?

Answer: $1500

After the neon lights came, $1500 and a spin was red. $1500 and a spin only appeared on the board once.
