Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following episodes does Mr. Krabs never appear in?

Answer: You Don't Know Sponge

Mr. Krabs is well featured in "Ghoul Fools", first stealing a head gasket for Lord Poltergeist rather than use the doubloon he gave SpongeBob to purchase a new one. In "A Day Without Tears", he frightens SpongeBob by accident in the Krusty Krab. In "PreHibernation Week", he is mentioned early in the episode, and then appears late in the episode.

He is totally absent from "You Don't Know Sponge", despite much of the episode taking place in the Krusty Krab.
2. In the fourth "Best Day Ever" short, "Me Money", which of the following is not an item Mr. Krabs shakes out of Squidward?

Answer: A food processor

In "Me Money", Mr. Krabs is quite irate when he looks in his safe and sees his money missing. Naturally, he initially blames Squidward, turning him upside down and violently shaking him. SpongeBob then informs him that he has knowledge of who took his money. Mr. Krabs then tells him, "Tell me! And I'll let ya watch as I tear him into 1,000 little pieces, mesh 'em back together, and tear him into 1,000 little pieces all over again!" SpongeBob quite nervously informs him it was him. Mr. Krabs simply asks why. SpongeBob says it was to clean and polish it. Mr. Krabs delightfully concludes the episode saying his money had never looked better.
3. From "Jailbreak!", what is Mr. Krabs' successful plan to stop using his gang of escaped ex-cons from stealing the Krabby Patty Secret Formula?

Answer: Hiding the entire Bikini Bottom Police Force in his safe

In "Jailbreak", Plankton is in prison (probably) for trying to steal the formula. He makes friends with the other inmates who respect him for villainy, including a crocodile and a whale that looks like Pearl. But wait, wasn't Plankton deathly afraid of whales in "One Coarse Meal"? It is revealed that chum is used to commit many crimes in Bikini Bottom. A bomb covered in chum is used by Plankton and the other inmates to escape from prison.

Mr. Krabs has SpongeBob be a guard at the prison to spy on Plankton, and so he overhears of his plans to escape and warns Mr. Krabs. With his gang of convicts, Plankton at last is seemingly unstoppable. He gives them their freedom, and in exchange, they help him attempt to steal the formula.

After ransacking the Krusty Krab, the convicts cannot find the formula until they check the safe. But Mr. Krabs has an ace up his sleeve. His plan is surprisingly simple: hiding the entire BBPD in his safe. Plankton is foiled again.
4. In "Little Yellow Book", what color does Mr. Krabs wear that makes SpongeBob cluck like a chicken?

Answer: Plaid

When Squidward reads SpongeBob's Work Diary, he learns many embarrassing things about SpongeBob, including the depth of his delusion that SpongeBob likes him. Customers of the Krusty Krab listen in and chortle. When Squidward reads that SpongeBob gets the uncontrollable urge to cluck like a chicken whenever he sees plaid, Mr. Krabs asks if anyone said "plaid" because he is wearing a plaid kilt.

When SpongeBob sees it, he does precisely what he said he'd do in his diary. Squidward becomes a pariah for reading SpongeBob's diary and is shunned by all the fish in Bikini Bottom.

When Squidward reads SpongeBob's Secret Personal Diary, the citizens of Bikini Bottom riddle him with tomatoes, but he does not care, for it is so funny, it is worth it.
5. Which of the following is NOT a bogus ingredient Mr. Krabs has SpongeBob give to Plankton in "Evil Spatula"?

Answer: Nitroglycerin

At the conclusion of "Evil Spatula", when Mr. Krabs hears that SpongeBob is getting the secret formula for the "magical" talking spatula Plankton gave him, Mr. Krabs has SpongeBob read the Sizzle Master bogus ingredients which, when mixed together by Karen, blow up the Krusty Krab, destroying Karen and badly hurting Plankton. Early in the episode, when Mr. Krabs is cleaning dirty money from the customers, he concocts a cleaning agent to clean the money. SpongeBob adds too much of the disulphide and blows both of their faces off.

It is evident that this mishap gave Mr. Krabs the idea to thwart Plankton (for the millionth time).
6. At the conclusion of "Eek, an Urchin!", what does Mr. Krabs do that screws up his plan to rid the Krusty Krab of the urchin infestation?

Answer: He sends SpongeBob with the trapped urchins all the way around the world and back to the Krusty Krab

When SpongeBob finds an urchin under the grill, Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob, Squidward, and Plankton (who agrees to help them get rid of it because he can't steal the formula with it running around) work together to get rid of it. Urchins are the underwater counterpart to cockroaches. Like roaches, they spread disease, infest restaurants, are prolific breeders, etc. They are dangerous to the touch due to their prickliness. Mr. Krabs first tries smashing it with a broom, and it does not work, sending Mr. Krabs spinning around.

Plankton sends his killer robot after the urchin (Mr. Krabs was shown to be a possible setting for termination, which Plankton urges everyone to ignore). The robot and its mallet smash up the Krusty Krab and does not succeed in getting the urchin. When he is about to smash the register, it is the last straw for Mr. Krabs, who demands its mallet and whacks the robot into a metal lunchbox. He asks SpongeBob to open the register where the urchin is hiding. He discovers, to his horror, that the urchin is eating his money. Ninety-ninth percent of the first-time viewers of this episode probably imagined what Mr. Krabs would scream next: One of his iconic catchphrases, "Me moneeeeeeeeey!"

Their next idea is to dress Plankton in a small cactus that belonged to Squidward and color it black. Plankton is now dressed as a female urchin. Plankton humorously screams, "What kind of an urchin do you think I am?!" when the urchin wolfishly pursues him. It is then that Plankton and the rest of the gang discover that the urchin was just one urchin among hundreds of others. This causes utter hopelessness and desperation, until Squidward, of all people, gets the idea to "...put [the] freak show on ice!". He freezes the urchins by lowering the thermostat. They are then unfrozen and trapped in a trash can, which Squidward slams the lid on.

Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob to get the urchins far away from his restaurant. But no matter how far SpongeBob takes them, Mr. Krabs tells him by phone it isn't far enough. SpongeBob winds up taking them all the way around the world, and accidentally lets them back into the Krusty Krab. "Eek, an Urchin!" is one of the stand-out episodes of season 9.
7. Can you complete the SpongeBob quote from "Patty Hype"? "Mister Krabs, I have an _____!"

Answer: idea

SpongeBob famously comes down, with angel's wings, to give Mr. Krabs his idea: Pretty Patties! Business is slow at the Krusty Krab, so slow, in fact, the Krusty Krab appears decorated with cobwebs! But of course, Mr. Krabs thinks SpongeBob could never make money with such a stupid idea.

But how could he not make money with such a brilliant idea? But Mr. Krabs is right, painted patties was a stupid idea. A VERY stupid idea. Too bad he doesn't find that out until he trades his Krusty Krab for his Pretty Patty stand! Angry customers, whose tongues turn multiple colors, chase him down the street in anger.

In the confusion, he searches for his key, forgetting he gave it to SpongeBob. Locked out, he cries out to SpongeBob in desperation to be let in as he is chased by the angry hordes, but SpongeBob does not hear him, for he is admiring that tiny squeaky sound you get when you rub two pickle slices together.
8. In "Sandy's Rocket", Mr. Krabs asks SpongeBob and Patrick to shoot him if they must, but not to what?

Answer: Take his money

"Ok, ok! Shoot me, but don't take me money!" is perhaps the funniest and most remembered quote from the first season classic. When SpongeBob and Patrick steal Sandy's rocket, they crash land in Bikini Bottom, but think they are on the moon. They believe the aliens are using mind tricks to make them resemble their friends, and so they net all their friends and neighbors, pretty much everyone, if not everyone, in Bikini Bottom. Who can forget after Patrick screams, "You started the rocket!", when Sandy wakes up and hears it and goes, "Uuuuuhhhh SPONGEBOB!"
9. Near the end of "Once Bitten", Mr. Krabs nearly kills Gary, as he and the angry mob in the Krusty Krab believe it to be for his "own good".

Answer: True

When Gary gets a gigantic splinter from Squidward's fence, he gets irritable and begins biting everyone in town. The citizens start to believe that they are infected with Mad Snail Disease, and are turning into zombies. At the end, when the "survivors" take refuge in the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob is bitten and then "infected" by his own pet snail.

The crowd, led by Mr. Krabs, who is holding a torch and pitchfork, demand that Gary be handed over to be killed, to prevent further spreading of the disease.

But SpongeBob will not let anyone hurt him, at the cost of his own life, if need be. Thankfully, Dr. Gill Gilliam, an expert on snails and snail diseases, informs everyone that Mad Snail Disease does not exist. He discovers the "little" splinter is making Gary irritable.

But Squidward still believes he is a zombie, for he has to go back to work at his dull, dead-end job at the Krusty Krab. The episode concludes unexpectedly with Gary biting Mr. Krabs on the butt for some reason.
10. Where does Mr. Krabs take his vacation in "Mr. Krabs Takes a Vacation"?

Answer: Bikini Bottom Mint

Pearl, SpongeBob, and Mr. Krabs set forth on their vacation. Pearl is excited as they drive past Super Mega Mall World, Planet Rollercoaster, and the Teenage Boy Museum. Mr. Krabs stops in front of the Teenage Boy Museum, only to see it demolished. No, the real place Mr. Krabs is headed to is the Bikini Bottom Mint! But Pearl would rather sift through the rubble of the Teenage Boy Museum than go in there!
