Sayid rushes to the aid of the woman. It's Shannon, Sayid's love interest on the island. Clearly, Hurley has orchestrated the fight in a successful interest to induce Sayid and Shannon's memory of the island. Boone provided a great deal of assistance to Hurley in order to accomplish this meeting.

8. Locke, Jack and Desmond have entered the cave. Jack and Locke lower Desmond into the the cave's interior. Desmond makes his way through the cavern. He reaches the magnificently iridescent pool. There appears to be an object in the center of the pool. What is it?

As Desmond enters the pool of shimmering light, the mysterious electromagnetic forces impede his progress towards the stone. Desmond perseveres and triumphantly removes the stone from the center of the pool. The water drains from the pool and appears to empty into a shaft at the center. Desmond cries, "no .. no" in anguish and Locke tells Jack, "It looks like you were wrong." In a fury, Jack follows Locke and pummels him. Jack notices that Locke is no longer invulnerable and remarks, "It looks like you were wrong, too."

In the alternate timeline, Daniel Widmore is a classical pianist. He is the star of the benefit concert. Desmond yields to Eloise's wishes and does not attempt to resurrect Dan's memories of the island.
