Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening sequence, we are introduced to the workings of what appears to be some sort of well-run warehouse. It is located on the Orute peninsula of which Pacific island?

Answer: Guam

Amidst a backdrop of pallets, machinery and a single long-haired worker, the caption reads: "Dharma Logistics Warehouse, Orute Peninsula, Guam." This is, in fact, a bona fide location and it is the residence of a U.S. Navy base. It's befitting though, that the location is relatively obscure.
2. Inside this massive warehouse, how many workers appear to operate it?

Answer: Only two.

Surprisingly, in this capacious industrial facility, there are only two workers. Their efficiency and diligence cannot be underestimated.
3. An unknown figure enters the facility and tells the workers that he has come to "tie up a few loose ends." Who is this very recognizable character?

Answer: Benjamin Linus

Benjamin Linus addresses the workers. Ben tells the workers that, "Your services are no longer required, gentlemen." Ben advises them that he is from the Home Office. One of the workers says, "Nobody from the Home Office has ever come out here." Benjamin replies, "There's a new man in charge. He sent me."
4. Sadly, the workers in the facility have been terminated. Do they receive any compensation?

Answer: Yes

The workers are incredulous. They implore, "What are we supposed to do?" The representative from Dharma hands them an envelope. Indeed, the workers receive a plump envelope filled with 100 dollar bills. The representative says, "This is your severance pay. I'd say you can do pretty much anything you want." It seems to be enough to mollify the workers, but they have questions.
5. The workers want to know about the Dharma Initiative. How does the representative respond?

Answer: "The Dharma Initiative hasn't existed in almost twenty years."

The workers are reluctant to believe that the Dharma Initiative has been out of service for twenty years. They suggest that their work is still current since they receive teletyped details about where to send material. The representative replies that this is the result of an obsolete automated system.
6. The representative makes an oblique reference to one of the Dharma Initiative stations. This is an obscure station that was rarely mentioned. It was located in Los Angeles, California, USA. Which one is it?

Answer: The Lamp Post

The representative says that teletyped messages come from the Lamp Post Station which is located in Los Angeles, California, USA. The main purpose of the Lamp Post Station is to make calculated predictions of the precise location of the island.
7. Before being summarily dismissed from the premises, final questions are allowed. One of the workers presents an article which happens to be incongruous with the region to which it is being sent. What is in the box?

Answer: Polar Bear Biscuits

One of the workers, employing undeniable logic says that based on their location, the island must be based somewhere in the tropics. He says, "explain this," and produces a box labeled, "Polar Bear Fish Biscuits." "How does a Polar Bear get on a tropical island?"
8. Naturally, intriguing questions demand more explanation. Therefore, the representative makes a deal. The representative produces a video. They may watch it together and then they all leave. Everyone agrees. Who appears as the narrator on the video?

Answer: Pierre Chang

The representative asks the workers if they own a DVD player. They say that they do. A DVD is presented and they watch it together. Apologies are made for the quality since it is a transfer from an old Betamax. The video begins with Pierre Chang narrating the orientation to the Hydra Station.
9. During the course of the video, various research projects are discussed. They include biological and behavioral research among animals, birds and marine species. The narrator makes a pronounced cautionary statement about one type of animal. What does he say?

Answer: "I repeat, the bears are not your friends."

"Ursus aritimus, or polar bears, possess a keen sense of memory and adaptability. These traits make them ideal candidates for electromagnetic studies." The narrator further notes that it is imperative that you do not show affection or become attached in any way. This is accompanied by a scene of a worker with half an arm. Dr. Chang reiterates, "I repeat, the bears are not your friends."
10. In the final segment of the orientation film, the narrator says, "Unfortunately, one must consider the most dangerous animal of all..." Which animal does the narrator suggest being the most dangerous?

Answer: humans

The narrator suggests that humans are the most dangerous subject with which to work. The narrator goes on to say that elements from the indigenous population are sequestered to another more secluded test site for experimentation.
