Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Finish this quote, said by Hawkeye. "Due to the flu, kindly refrain from kissing anyone..."

Answer: unless absolutely necessary

This quote is from "Carry on Hawkeye". It was an announcement made over the PA in the beginning of the episode, which sees the whole camp contract the flu.
2. One of Hawkeye's most famous quotes. What comes next? "I will not carry a gun, Frank. When I got thrown into this war I had a clear understanding with the Pentagon: no guns. I'll carry your books, I'll carry a torch, I'll carry a tune, I'll carry on, carry over, carry forward..."

Answer: Cary Grant

This is the full quote, from "Officer of the Day".
"I will not carry a gun, Frank. When I got thrown into this war I had a clear understanding with the Pentagon: no guns. I'll carry your books, I'll carry a torch, I'll carry a tune, I'll carry on, carry over, carry forward, Cary Grant, cash and carry, carry me back to Old Virginia, I'll even 'hari-kari' if you show me how, but I will not carry a gun!"
In this episode, Hawkeye is made "Officer of the Day", and with this, is handed a gun by Frank.
3. A personal favourite of mine, this one is a quote from Klinger. But what is Hawkeye's response? "That's it, my life's passing before me. Ma, Pa, Laverne. Goodbye. So long, Harry, Freda, Paul. I'm comin' Uncle Jake. I'm too young. No, no, no!"

Answer: Could you at least bleed?

This is said in "It Happened One Night", after Klinger was grazed by a bullet. Klinger later attempts to get pneumonia.
4. This quote, from "38 Across", could have been said by anyone. Who did say it? "I told you, the food here is not to be taken internally!"

Answer: Hawkeye

This quote is from "38 Across", an episode from season 5, which sees Hawkeye and BJ try to complete a "New York Times" crossword, and Klinger attempt to eat a Jeep. In this quote, Hawkeye is talking to Klinger after he comes into the OR, sick from eating the Jeep.
5. Finish this quote. "Boots Miller on the move here in Korea, where the men are rugged..."

Answer: you can see it in their voices

This quote was from Corporal "Boots" Miller, a new member of the 4077th who gets discharged on a section 8. He says this while pretending to interview the members of the 4077th. Hawkeye, BJ, Margaret and Colonel Potter all politely decline responding, before Miller starts to sing "Come Over to My House".
6. Who says this? "Just relax, private. I've done this hundreds of times and no one's ever died of embarrassment."

Answer: Margaret

Surprisingly, Margaret says this in "Point of View" from season 7. This is the only episode shot from a patient's perspective. Margaret says this while giving the patient a sponge bath. She spends the time talking to him, in an attempt to distract him. What does she talk to him about? The necessity to keep the patient distracted while giving them a sponge bath. A classic scene.
7. Finish this quote from Charles: "I've talked to everyone in the camp - which, by the way, is a first for me - and no one saw or heard a thing. A fact confirmed by our ever-vigilant sentries..."

Answer: and their seeing-eye dogs

This was said when Charles went looking for the mother of a baby abandoned outside the Swamp. From "Yessir, That's Our Baby".
8. Who said this? "Once again, the Army proves Darwin's theory survival of the twittest."

Answer: Charles

Taken from "Cementing Relationships", season 9. This episode follows the doctors' attempts to get a cement floor into the operating room, following an outbreak of post-operative diseases. This episode also sees an Italian soldier take a liking to Margaret, much to her embarrassment and distress.
9. Finish this quote from Hawekeye. "I wrote the book on the appendix. I even wrote the appendix,"

Answer: but they took that out.

This quote is taken from "That's Show Biz", from season 10 of "M*A*S*H". Hawkeye says this just before he operates on Marina Ryan, a member of a touring USO group, performing an emergency appendix operation. This was in the first part of a two part episode, which sees the troupe become friends with all the members of the 4077th.
10. Here's a classic quote from Hawkeye. What's the last line? "I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the a-train. I can take two and call me in the morning..."

Answer: but I cannot take this sitting down!

This quote is from the final episode of "M*A*S*H", "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen". Hawkeye says this while the camp is being shelled, due to a tank sitting in the compound. He then runs out and drives it into the garbage dump, to a round of applause. This episode sees Hawkeye released from a mental hospital, and the Korean war end.
