Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the scene where Radar informs Colonel Potter and several other staff members of the 4077th of the orphans' impending arrival, the 4077th members had just finished an activity. What had they just finished doing?

Answer: A session in O.R.

Hawkeye told BJ and Colonel Potter that the orphans stayed at the 4077th once before. Frank wasn't too happy to hear about the orphans coming back to the 4077th. He told the others that the orphans steal.
2. What was the name of the nurse that ran the orphanage?

Answer: Meg Cratty

In this episode, Nurse Cratty was played by Ann Doran. In the episode "The Trial Of Henry Blake" Cratty was played by Hope Summers.
3. Frank received a medal in the mail. Was it a Bronze Star?

Answer: No

It was a Purple Heart. We find this out in the scene where he tells Margaret he has something to show her. He takes her aside and shows her his medal. She asks who it belongs to and is delighted when Frank says that it's his. She asks him when he was wounded and he tells her that it was during a sniper attack that happened last month.

She compliments him on him not letting on that he was wounded and tells him that she admires his courage. He just laughs and grins until she pins the medal on him; she must have hit some skin with the medal's pin because all of a sudden he gets a look of pain on his face and winces "Ow!"
4. Let's visit the Swamp, where Hawkeye and BJ are preparing the Swamp for two special guests. Enter Frank, who's not too thrilled with having to share his tent with two "foreigners". Hawkeye reminds Frank that they're "the ones from out of town." BJ notices Frank's medal and he and Hawkeye question Frank on how he got it. When he says that it was during the sniper attack last month and that he received an injury to one of his eyes, what does Hawkeye say?

Answer: "I was the one who treated that eye. That was an eggshell fragment!"

BJ added that Frank was cracking open an egg and got nervous. They told Frank to give the medal back and of course he wouldn't. He told them "Nerts!" What a gift for words Frank had!
5. When the orphans arrive, everyone comes out to greet them. When a nurse holds out a child so that Frank can take the kid, Frank takes the child willingly.

Answer: False

He refuses, saying, "I just washed!" There are several good moments in the scene where they greet the orphans. My favorite is when a little Korean girl calls Klinger, who is in his usual female attire, "Mama-san." Klinger doesn't understand why she thinks he's a woman!
6. One of the orphans asked Frank for money three times. How much did he ask Frank for the first time?

Answer: Twenty-five cents

This particular orphan was older than most of the orphans. He was also pretty hip to the English language. He asked Frank for "two bits", which is American slang for a quarter. When Frank first refused to give him a quarter, Margaret said to give him a quarter.

When Frank said,"No!", Margaret angrily said, "Frank, stick a crowbar in your wallet and give it to him!" Frank did give the boy a quarter and the boy said, "Thanks." Frank said, "You're welcome." Then they went double or nothing with Frank losing! Then the boy came back one more time and said, "Four bits"? Frank angrily told the kid to get lost, which he did.
7. Hawkeye and BJ's two little guests wanted a story. BJ told them which one of Aesop's fables?

Answer: "Androcles And The Lion"

Before BJ told them the fable, he and Hawkeye were discussing who should tell the two orphans a story. Hawkeye says that he doesn't know any stories - (which I still find rather odd) and that BJ has to practice telling stories so can tell them to his daughter Erin when he goes home. BJ tells Hawkeye, "I could tell them the story of "Jack And The Beanstalk" but I have a fear of heights."
8. Colonel Potter was entertaining three little guests. Was one of them wearing his colonel's hat?

Answer: Yes

One of the orphan boys was wearing the colonel's hat. The colonel was reading them a story and at one point he said, "You want more of this story? You really don't understand." The orphan boy wearing the colonel's hat pointed to the book. The colonel said, "You want more?OK." He then proceeded to read the story to his guests.
9. In one scene, we see Klinger on guard duty. He hears something and yells, "Halt!", only to discover that it's Radar taking a little orphan girl to the latrine. Klinger and Radar chat for a few seconds, until they're interrupted. What interrupts them?

Answer: A wounded pregnant woman

The pregnant woman had been staying at Nurse Cratty's orphanage. She didn't come with the orphans because she was visiting relatives down the road from the 4077th. She was walking to the 4077th when she was shot through the abdomen.
10. Who delivered the baby?

Answer: BJ

Nurse Cratty said that arthritis had eaten up her knuckles. Hawkeye said, "BJ's fresh out of residency!" So BJ delivered the baby, and thankfully, there were no major complications.
11. The baby was slightly hurt.

Answer: True

Radar came into the OR to check on the mother and the baby. BJ told Radar that the baby had a nick on his little bottom. Radar said, "Wow!" But the baby was otherwise fine.
12. Klinger came into the OR and told Nurse Cratty there was something he would like to give to the mother. What did he want to give her?

Answer: A bed jacket

Klinger told Nurse Cratty that the bed jacket was too small for him. After he described the bed jacket in detail, Colonel Potter said, "I gotta get him that section eight."
13. After the latest OR session, Frank and Margaret enter the Swamp because Frank saw the older orphan boy lurking around the Swamp and he thinks the boy probably took some things. Margaret said, "Now I won't even have time for coffee. I go on duty in ___ _____."

Answer: Ten minutes

Then Frank discovers his medal is missing and exclaims, "I knew it! They're all crooks!" He then proceeds to chase the older orphan boy into the showers and then he stupidly steps into one of the shower stalls. The boy escapes by turning the water in the stall onto Frank!
14. Did the orphan boy take Frank's medal?

Answer: No

No, he didn't. Hawkeye gave the medal to Colonel Potter. Colonel Potter pinned it on the blanket that was wrapped around the baby boy that BJ had delivered. The baby boy was so cute; he just smiled and laughed while Colonel Potter pinned it on his blanket! When BJ showed Frank what had really happened to his medal, Frank didn't seem to mind so much.

But he did say, "Well, I really would like one." To which BJ replied, "Well, with any luck." I like the part where Colonel Potter told Hawkeye that he had done a nice thing. Nurse Cratty agreed. Hawkeye said, "Well, he deserved it.

It's lousy to get hurt on your birthday." Colonel Potter asked Hawkeye where he got the medal. Margaret said, "I bet I know." Hawkeye said, "Bite your tongue, Margaret. Or better yet, let me do it." Margaret smiled; she approved too!
15. The orphans were getting ready to leave. They were in the bed of the truck that they had arrived at the 4077th in. Radar approached the truck and told one of the orphans to "Give it back." What was "it"?

Answer: Radar's teddy bear

The orphan complied, and Radar gave him another stuffed animal in return. If you recall, in the episode "Goodbye, Radar" Radar left his teddy bear on Hawkeye's bed before he left the 4077th and went home. Well, that's it. I would like to dedicate this quiz to my dear friend, Mr. Hayward Horry, who passed away on Saturday, October 16th, 2004. RIP, my friend. I hope that you players enjoyed my quiz! P.S. Mr. Horry was 94 when he passed away.

He was a World War II vet; he was in the Air Corps. Bye!
