Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What song was playing over the P.A. system while Radar is delivering the mail at the beginning of this episode?

Answer: "You Make Me Feel So Young"

"Keep The Home Fires Burning" was sung at the end of the episode "War of Nerves". "Tennessee Waltz" was played/sung in a number of different episodes, including Season 5's episode, "Movie Tonight". "Mississippi Mud" was sung in Season 3's episode "The General Flipped at Dawn".
2. Radar talks with Hawkeye and B.J. about his desire to become "a hot lover". Where does Hawkeye tell Radar to go to find a lady that "reminds him of his father and let nature take its course"?

Answer: The Pink Pagoda

Hawkeye tells Radar to write himself a weekend pass, borrow a jeep, and go down to the Pink Pagoda in Seoul. Radar musters up enough courage to say "Okay, I will." As soon as he gets to the door of the swamp, however, he says "I feel different already. I think I'm getting a fever." Ah, sweet, innocent, lovable Radar.
3. When Radar was wounded by mortar fire, he was hit in the chest.

Answer: False

He was hit in the left shoulder. During triage, Hawkeye was checking him over, not knowing who he was. Hawkeye turned him over to make sure that he didn't have any chest wounds and discovered it was Radar.
4. Hawkeye was feeling very guilty about Radar's wound. He felt that he was responsible. Coming back from drinking at Rosie's Bar, Hawkeye sings "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", claiming it was the theme song for Iowa.

Answer: True

I could understand how he could have made that mistake. He was drunk, and the first and last part of "The Wizard of Oz" took place on a farm. However, it was a farm in Kansas, not Iowa.
5. The next morning in surgery, Hawkeye wasn't feeling too well (all that drinking). He runs out of O.R. (operating room) to "step outside for a minute", and Colonel Potter is not happy about it. Who informs Colonel Potter that Hawkeye is "laying over an oil drum, throwing up"?

Answer: Nurse Baker

B.J. tried to convince Hawkeye that he needed to sleep rather than operate, but Hawkeye insisted on doing his fair share. In all fairness, they were not expecting casualites that morning, and the abrupt surgery session caught everyone off guard. Radar was in post-op recovering from surgery. Klinger and Nurse Able were not present in this scene.
6. After the incident in surgery, Hawkeye and Colonel Potter are talking in the latter's office. Is Colonel Potter trying to comfort Hawkeye?

Answer: No. Colonel Potter was appalled at Hawkeye's behavior, and told him that he needed to get his act together.

It may seem like Colonel Potter is trying to comfort him in his own way, but this line blows that theory out of the water: "Anyone would feel like a jerk after doing what you did."
7. While explaining to Radar why he walked out of surgery, where did Hawkeye say all of his blood came from the night before?

Answer: A scotch bottle

"Hawkeye: It might have had something to do with the fact that all of my blood came out of a scotch bottle.

Radar: I wouldn't know about that, I'm not a doctor.

Hawkeye: But I am, so I'm not allowed to be human?"

I think Radar was totally unfair towards Hawkeye during this exchange.
8. When Colonel Potter went to the Swamp to reprimand Hawkeye for yelling at Radar, Colonel Potter says that they should aim him at the North Koreans.

Answer: False

"No sooner do I talk to you about one patient then you go and try to destroy another. Maybe we should aim you at the Chinese!"

This sentence out of a well thought out and well written rant was directed at Hawkeye after he visited Radar in post-op. Earlier, Hawkeye had to excuse himself from surgery to get sick after a night of drinking. He was drinking to try to rid himself of the guilt and responsibility he felt for Radar's injuries.
9. After visiting with Radar a second time (to apologize), Hawkeye sits outside of Post-Op. Charles approaches Hawkeye and tells of a time when he let the same thing happen to him. How old did Charles say he was when that happened?

Answer: 14

Charles isn't one to admit that he has any faults - especially not to meatball surgeons (he is, after all, Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Boston General), so it was surprising that he would take the time to comfort Hawkeye. Of course, being the pompous windbag he is, he used his age as an excuse: "I was only 14 at the time, and not a grown man like you."
10. At the end of the episode, Radar and Hawkeye run into each other in Rosie's Bar. Did Radar initiate the conversation with Hawkeye by talking about the weather?

Answer: No. It was Hawkeye that broke the silence.

It was Hawkeye. Hawkeye went in first, and then sat down. Radar followed, and they ordered their drinks. Then Hawkeye turns to him and says, "Hi, sailor, come here often?" to which Radar replies, "Oh, hi."
