Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As the episode begins, Don Draper is speaking to his wife's psychiatrist on the telephone. How does the doctor characterize Betty's condition?

Answer: Emotions of a child

Don remains curious about the progress of his wife's treatment and the subject matter of her discussions. Dr. Wayne advises him, "She seems consumed by petty jealousies and overwhelmed with every day activities."
2. What is Roger Sterling having with milk when his partner Bertram Cooper drops into his office one morning?

Answer: Vodka

Cooper reminds Roger that representatives from the Richard Nixon presidential campaign are coming to the office at the end of the week to discuss the agency's handling of their candidate. Roger replies, "The ones with the best products make the worst clients."
3. Roger Sterling's family is out of town so he invites Joan to come to his house. After his mistress turns him down, how does Roger spend the evening?

Answer: At Don Draper's home

To Roger's dismay, Joan and her roommate Carol claim to have other plans. He then coerces Don Draper to join him at the Oak Room Bar. As the two men enjoy cocktails, Roger confides that his wife has stopped cooking since their daughter stopped eating, whereupon Don invites his boss home for dinner.
4. Based on Don's manner of speech, where does Roger Sterling guess he was raised?

Answer: A farm

While having dinner, Betty and Roger chat about their childhoods while Don listens restlessly. Roger comments to Don, "From the way you drop your G's every once in a while, I always thought you were raised on a farm." Don quickly changes the subject and Roger begins telling war stories.
5. What happens while Betty Draper and Roger Sterling are alone in the kitchen?

Answer: Roger makes a pass at Betty

As he slides his hands around Betty's waist, Roger says, "You've been making eyes at me all night. You can't tell me I'm not giving you hot pants." Don senses something is wrong when he returns to the room, but Roger quickly makes a drink for the road and leaves. Don chastises Betty saying, "You were throwing yourself at him, giggling at all his stories. Sometimes I feel like I'm living with a little girl."
6. What gift offering does Roger bring to Don's office?

Answer: Rye

Don remains calm as his boss apologizes for making moves on Betty the previous evening. Attempting to justify his actions, Roger says, "When a man gets to a point in his life when his name's on the building, he can get an unnatural sense of entitlement."
7. What does Pete Campbell do instead of going to lunch with his co-workers?

Answer: Returns a wedding present

Without a receipt, Rosemary, the department store's customer service girl, is insistent that Pete can only get store credit for his chip and dip wedding gift. The young store clerk is unmoved by Pete's relentless attempts to charm her, but is visibly impressed with Pete's squash racquet-wielding friend Kicks Matherton, who is passing by the return line. "He has the clap", Pete confides in Rosemary after Kicks departs.
8. What new "toy" does Pete Campbell bring to the office?

Answer: Rifle

With the department store credit that he got for the returned wedding gift, Pete obtains a .22 rifle which he proudly displays to his co-workers. There are a few moments of viewer suspense as Pete takes aim at members of the secretarial pool. Instead of an anticipated accidental gunshot, Pete's secretary appears at the door and announces his next meeting.
9. Betty Draper happens upon her neighbor Helen at the grocery store and they have brief exchange regarding something Betty gave Helen's son. How does the meeting end?

Answer: Betty slaps Helen

After Helen passes Betty without saying a word, Betty inquires if something is wrong. Helen replies that she found a lock of Betty's hair in her young son's treasure box. "What's wrong with you?" Helen asks, whereupon Betty smacks her and walks off without a word.
10. What does Roger Sterling do upon first meeting the Richard Nixon campaign people?

Answer: Vomit

Don has an intricate plan to get revenge for Roger making a pass at Betty. Early one morning he bribes Hollis, the office building elevator operator, with cash. Later at lunch he encourages Roger to consume a large quantity of raw oysters and liquor. As the men return to work, Hollis advises them that the elevator is out of order. Don reminds Roger of the important Nixon campaign meeting and the two men climb 23 flights of stairs. Don hardly breaks a sweat but Roger, huffing and puffing, immediately upon being introduced to the Nixon people, violently vomits on the floor. One Nixon man comments that he must have gotten some bad oysters. Don only smiles slightly.
