Lydia gave Thelma a kimono, a bottle of French perfume to Naomi, a typewriter to Bubba, and a fishing reel to Vint.

2. "National Mama": What was Thelma apparently good at picking?

Answer: Winning horses

Using Thelma's stories about her dreams Vint picked winning race horses until he didn't get all of the dream for the last race and he lost.

She held by a tiny corner of the magazine like it was contaminated. She later found out it was Naomi who sold it to him and Thelma decided to do something about it. She founded M.O.P. "Mothers Opposing Pornography" with herself, Iola, Effie and Inez.

Needing help in the romance department Bubba wrote Vint a letter to for Vint to give to Naomi. Only it passed from person to person each thinking someone was madly in love with them.

Thelma would get the entire estate provided she abided by Fran's clause: Thelma keeps her temper for two weeks. That was easier said than done.
