Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who does Martin attempt to contact at the SGC?

Answer: Jack

Martin leaves a message on the main phone at the base for Jack. He seems to know a lot about the Stargate program, and says he also knows about Roswell, the Kennedy cover-ups, the "the C.I.A.-sanctioned Microwave harassment" and the Lizard people. General Hammond fast-forwards through most of the message, but we do hear him mention these things.
2. To what state does SG-1 travel to find Martin and see what he knows?

Answer: Montana

In his phone message, Martin says he is calling from a phone booth in Butte, Montana. At the end of the message, he tells Jack he wants to meet "Tomorrow, 11 A.M. at the New Cloverleaf Restaurant in Billings." Billings is also in Montana.
3. Finish this quote said by Martin in the diner: "I'm not just interested in outer space - I'm _____ outer space."

Answer: from

Martin offers to take Jack to his space ship to prove he is an alien. Jack is going to refuse, but he gets a message that says, "we've got his address, stall him." So Jack goes into the woods with Martin, but Martin gets lost and can't find the clearing where his ship landed.
4. Martin takes Jack twice to the woods near Montana. What is he trying to show him?

Answer: spaceship

The first time Martin gets lost, but later, his memory becomes clearer because he has been off his medication (which is laced with a drug to make him forget) and he leads Jack and Teal'c right to the ship.
5. Martin thinks the government is spying on him, but who do we discover is actually watching Martin?

Answer: other aliens

Martin's psychiatrist is the leader of the group. They have photos of Sam, Daniel and Teal'c in Martin's house, including an infrared picture of Teal'c's larvae Goa'uld. Daniel thinks it looks like a duck when he and Sam look at it.
6. By what name does Martin know Teal'c?

Answer: Murray

Martin comes to the hotel to talk to Jack. Teal'c is lying on the bed, feeding quarters into the machine to make it vibrate. He wears a hat to cover the gold symbol on his head. Jack introduces him to Martin as his friend Murray.
7. Does Martin get to go through the Stargate?

Answer: yes

At the end, Martin goes through to his home world only to find that the cities have been destroyed by the Goa'uld and all of the people are gone. He ends up returning to Earth.
8. Why does the SGC want to find Martin in the episode "Wormhole X-Treme"?

Answer: ship spotted near Mars

A strange object is seen flying from Mars toward Earth. At first, it seems to be a comet, but then they notice it changes speed. A search matches its configuration with the escape pod seen in "Point of No Return". (That small ship was destroyed in the episode.)
9. What role does Martin play on the show "Wormhole X-Treme"?

Answer: creative consultant

Originally, Martin had written a novel about the Stargate program, but no one would publish it. Eventually, he was able to sell the idea to a television studio, who thought it was a great idea. A cheesy copy of what we know as the TV show "Stargate SG-1" was the result. Martin stays around as a consultant and always argues with the director and producer.
10. Does Martin recognize Jack when he first sees him on the set?

Answer: no

Martin seems to have no idea who Jack is and has no memory of the events from the previous year. A test of his vitamins shows that he has again been given the chemical agent that blocks his memory of his life as an alien and his past life.
11. What name did Martin originally want to give his television show?

Answer: Going to Other Planets

Martin and Jack are talking and Jack raises his brow at the big X on the back of a crew-member's jacket. Martin says, "With the X, I know what you are thinking. It's a marketing thing. You see, I wanted to call the show `Going to Other Planets' but research says that shows with X in the name get better ratings."
This is a reference to the sci-fi show "X-Files".
12. What did Martin want to replace the apples with in scene 23?

Answer: kiwis spray painted red

This scene is a direct homage to the episode "Beneath the Surface" from season four. On another planet, there was a bowl of strange fruit. In the DVD commentary, they mention that they painted kiwis red to get alien looking fruit.
13. Does Martin get his memory back in this episode?

Answer: yes

The other aliens capture Jack and Martin. They inject Martin with something to bring back his memory because they need the mobile computing device he took in the episode "Point of No Return" so they can get back to their ship, which is headed toward Earth.
14. Who is spying on Martin in the episode "Wormhole X-Treme"?

Answer: NID

Sam and Daniel try to trace the surveillance and think they have found the other aliens. When they bust in with a bunch of air force troops, they find a highly organized surveillance crew from the NID. The NID is a made-up government organization that is often at odds with the SGC.
15. Does Martin board the ship at the end of the episode "Wormhole X-Treme"?

Answer: no

The other aliens leave, but Martin stays behind with his television program. They are able to film the ship as part of the show, thus saving on special effects costs. The funniest part is the conversation at the end between two of the crew.
"Cool special effect."
"I've seen better."
"Ah we'll fix it in post."
