Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Emma Hollis was introduced in the first episode of season three and became Frank Black's new partner. What Panamanian-Canadian actress, who also had supporting roles in the movies "Minority Report" and "Collateral", played her character?

Answer: Klea Scott

Emma Hollis was introduced during the season opener when she was given the task to investigate a plane crash possibly linked to a deadly disease. As the season progresses, she becomes the protege of Frank Black. It is learned that her father has a serious disease and that the Millennium Group may have a cure for his illness.

As a result, Hollis eventually turns her back on Frank to work with the Millennium Group, a group which Frank had previously left.
2. In the episode "Exegesis", documents with the name Grillflame are found by Emma Hollis. What was discovered about Grillflame?

Answer: It was a government project that had employed psychic spies

While FBI agents have determined that the airline crash was caused due to sabotage, Frank Black reveals his true thoughts regarding his wife Catherine's death and blames the Millennium Group. During Frank and Emma's own investigation into the plane crash, mysterious documents are found that Frank recognizes as being CIA documents.

The documents are revealed to be containing information about psychic spies who were employed to access secrets from other nations during the 1970s. Video footage from 1972 assist Frank and Emma to locate an elderly woman that may have information regarding the crash.

After interviewing the elderly woman, Frank believes that it is possible that the Millennium Group has an intention to end the world. One of the sisters of the elderly woman, however, signs a confession stating that she conspired to take down the airliner, but due to lack of certain details causes Emma to believe that the sister is lying.
3. In the episode "Closure", Frank and Emma try to track down a killer and his friends who are killing just for the excitement of it all. What is the name of this type of killer who murders multiple people over a short period of time in at least two locations or more, and rarely has a cooling off period?

Answer: Spree Killer

At the start of the episode, two men named Rick and Peter rent a hotel room. In the room next to them, a man snores loudly and as a result, Rick kicks his door down and kills him. As the episode progresses, it is determined that the two men also have a female partner as well named Joni.

The trio end up killing three people in a grocery store and then hi-jack a city bus threatening to kill the passengers aboard the bus. When they realize their chances of success are slim, they pull the bus in front of a police precinct. Upon exiting the bus, police return fire during a gun battle and Peter is shot in the neck. Rick escapes by taking Emma Hollis as a hostage in her own car.

She survives when her car strikes a junction on a bridge and Rick flies out the windshield of her car. Frank realizes that the real reason that Emma has accepted to work on this murder case was in commemoration of her sister's murder twenty years prior.
4. What popular band known for their make-up and masks appeared as themselves in small roles in the episode "...Thirteen Years Later"?

Answer: KISS

A murder victim, film director Lew Carroll (played by Paul Stanley), is being investigated by Frank and Emma. Peter Criss and Ace Frehley play good cop/bad cop as the episode progresses. A film extra (played by Gene Simmons) comes out and confesses to the crime. After interviewing the film extra, Frank concludes that he is lying and not the perpetrator. In the end, a method actor named Michael Bianco tries to attack Emma wielding a chainsaw. Bianco defends his crime by stating that in order to play the role of a killer, he needed to be able to see through the eyes of a killer.

The episode included some satire and was considered one of the most grueling episodes of "Millennium" to produce. It received mixed reviews being given a B rating by A.V. Club's Todd VanDerWerff to a 1 out of 5 stars from Robert Shearman and Lars Pearson. Critics claimed that the episode went a little "overkill" and that the satire "falls apart" with the exception of Frank Black.
5. The episode "Through a Glass, Darkly", begins with a scene from 1979 and the body of a dead girl. In the present day the suspect, named Brunelli, is released on parole. Upon his release, another girl goes missing. Was Brunelli the kidnapper?

Answer: No

As it turned out, the true kidnapper is the lawyer, Randle Jarrett, who had represented Brunelli since his original conviction in 1979. Through evidence collected, Jarrett had brainwashed Brunelli into thinking that he had actually committed the murder in 1979, when really he did not. The missing girl turned out to be Jarret's biological daughter who he had imprisoned at his own home.
6. In "Human Essence", Emma Hollis heads to Vancouver, Canada to investigate the bizarre effects of tainted heroin. What were the local addicts claiming that this drug was doing?

Answer: Transforming junkies into reptilian-like creatures

Emma had gone to Vancouver as one of her relatives seemed to be in danger. A girl named Tamra had sent Emma a packet of heroin claiming that it had been contaminated. Tests had not proven that it was contaminated. As the body of a girl named Elissa was pulled out of a river, coroners discovered a strange hormone in her skin cells.

A chemist named Mr. Wing Ho admitted to contaminating the heroin with a synthetic hormone that had been developed by the United States Army six years earlier.
7. Upon the first Christmas that Frank and Jordan had without Catherine, Frank decides to take Jordan on a vacation to what US state?

Answer: Vermont

In "Omerta", Frank decides to take Jordan Christmas shopping. Memories of previous Christmases with her mother and the fact that Jordan has a broken arm turn what is supposed to be a happy time for Jordan into a sad one. When Frank takes Jordan to the small community of Coker Creek, Vermont the vacation turns into an eventful one. During a shooting, a mobster named Eddie is shot and killed.

But was he? Two women with apparent mystical powers claim to have brought Eddie back to life. While under surveillance, one of the women are shot by members of a mobster crime family.

At the end of the episode, Eddie and the two women are seen alive, at a remote cabin, celebrating Christmas together.
8. At any point during season three, does Frank Black's nemesis Lucy Butler appear?

Answer: Yes

In the episode "Antipas", Lucy Butler appears in the episode as the nanny of a high profile Attorney General, John Saxum. Upon a visit to Saxum's home, Frank warns him of how dangerous Lucy Butler is. Saxum disagrees, stating that Butler has been a great help regarding the health of his daughter Davina. Meanwhile, a series of murders has occurred that all appear to be connected as all of the victims were involved with legal processing. Frank suspects her of being involved in the murders.
9. During the second half of season three a large portion of the show deals with the Millennium Group and their guarantee that they can provide a cure to Emma Hollis' father's disease. What disease does he have?

Answer: Alzheimer's

As season three progresses, the audience becomes aware of Hollis' relationship with her father and his ailing illness. In the final episodes of the season, her father is in the hospital and his condition is deteriorating. Peter Watts of the Millennium Group makes Emma an offer to cure him of his illness. Emma chooses not go take the offer.

In the season finale, her father was taken away from his nursing home by unknown people. Upon her return to her own apartment, Emma discovers her father resting, covered with a small bandage on his head.

It is assumed that the Millennium Group did the surgery regardless of her decision to reject their offer.
10. In the final episode "Goodbye To All That", Cheryl Kellough, the girlfriend of a killer named Lucas Barr, is oblivious to his crimes. Why is she oblivious?

Answer: She is blind

Cheryl Kellough, played by actress Jade Malle, is legally blind and does not realize that her boyfriend Lucas Barr, played by Jeff Parise, has boarded up her house and has her trapped inside. Frank Black has a falling out with the FBI and ends his association with them.

In one last ditch effort to find Lucas Barr, FBI agent Doug Scaife provides Frank with the address of Kellough. When Frank arrives, he tries to convince Lucas to let Cheryl go but he refuses. Unintentionally, Cheryl trips the breakers to the house and the power goes off. Lucas, wearing night vision glasses finds Cheryl hiding in a closet. Eventually realizing what he has done, Lucas Barr drills a hole into his head with a cordless drill. Upon returning to his car, Frank sees two folders. One of them has his daughter Jordan's name on it. Feeling threatened, Frank rushes to Jordan's school and in a memorable scene, we see Frank and Jordan running down the hallway of the school together. Leaving many with the feeling of a cliffhanger, the viewers were left unsure of what would happen to Frank and Jordan believing that there would be a season 4.

This however, did not turn out to be the case.
