Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the episode "The Dragons of Ashida," Dr. Ashida had changed from a knowledgeable wildlife expert and friend of Dr. Quest, into a villian who mutated what animal to create his 'dragons'?

Answer: Iguana

Dr. Ashida turned the usually docile lizards agressive and liked to pit one against another to fight, as well as to use them to keep the Quests captives on his island. He met his end when his massive assistant, Sumi, fed him to the dragons in a fit of rage.
2. This huge pteranodon was trained by Deen to fly into the jungles of South America and bring back slaves to work in his silver mine. What was the creature's name?

Answer: Turu

The episode was called "Turu the Terrible." The creature and his master both met their ends when Quest and Race shot Turu into a tar pit.
3. This creature was accidentally created by Dr. Isaiah Norman in an experiment gone wrong. It was forced to wander the jungles feeding until Dr. Quest and the gang stopped it. What was the creature called?

Answer: The invisible monster

Because it was invisible, the Quest gang had a hard time stopping it (or seeing it) at first, following it by the strange noises it made and its footprints. They eventually came up with the idea of dropping paint on it, which worked for some reason. But not before poor Dr. Norman had his neurons sucked into the energy-hungry monster.
4. In one of the most popular episodes, a device known as the robot spy was created by criminal master-mind Dr. Zin in order to steal the secret of what sort of weapon, created by Dr. Quest?

Answer: A para-power ray gun

The para-power ray gun was supposed to drain the power from any device, leaving it inoperable but not destroyed. Zin thought so highly of it that he created the robot spy to learn how it worked. Of course, one wonders how someone who is so intelligent that they can create a mind-sucking robot would not be able to create a (less) cool ray gun.
5. In the episode "Terror Island," Chu Sing Ling had genetically enlarged several ordinary creatures, much to the dismay of the Quest gang. Which of these is NOT one of Ling's creations?

Answer: A giant scorpion

Chu Sing Ling, unfortunately for him, met his fate at the hands of the massive lizard creature, as he was trying to pursue the Quests by boat. Can anyone say poetic justice?
6. Scorpions, jackals, and most famously, adders figured into this famous episode about a mummy. What Egyptian God is the mummy supposed to be?

Answer: Anubis

The mummy of Anubis was set free when artifacts were stolen from his tomb, and in his wrath, he (very) slowly made his way across the desert to seek his revenge. The real Anubis, of course, was the God of the Egyptian underground until Osiris took over. He was never human, so he never would have been a mummy.
7. There's only one Race Bannon, but in the episode "Double Danger" there was briefly a second impostor Race. Who discovered that the look-alike villain, Korchek, was not who he was pretending to be?

Answer: Jade

She discovered Korchek was not Race was by kissing him. Apparently, there are some things that just can't be mimicked...
8. Dr. Quest's life was in jeopardy in the episode "The Riddle of the Gold," when this wild creature was supposed to kill him. (Thankfully, the animal had other ideas...)

Answer: A tiger

No lions or panthers in this episode, but there was a leopard. It didn't try to kill Dr. Quest, though, but it did kill the bad-guy Kassim after he killed the Maharaja.
9. In the episode "The Sea Haunt," the Quests boarded a deserted ship on the Java Sea, only to find it haunted by a mysterious sea creature. Dr. Quest says the creature looks like a cross between a manticore (lion-like creature) and what other mythical beast?

Answer: A hippocampus

The beast is supposed to look something like part lion (manticore) and part hippocampus (half-horse and half-fish). Truthfully, it looked more like a guy in a green wetsuit crossed with a praying mantis. The boys find that the monster is afraid of fire and use this to force it off the ship.
10. A quiz about Quest villains would not be complete without this most devious of arch-villains. In which of these episodes did Dr. Zin NOT appear?

Answer: The Devil's Tower

The villain in "The Devil's Tower," was Heinrich von Duffle, an ex-Nazi officer, who was abandoned inside of the tower for fifteen-years. In typical Quest fashion, he dies betraying the group after crashing his plane.
