Hint

Question 4 of 15
4. I was a 1980s era spin-off set at Hillman College that catered to classrooms the size you'd find in an elementary school. I had a campus where people could just appear in ROTC, winning sports teams, and the most popular people were on an academic team contest. 5. Five ways to describe this show- FX original series; bikers; Charming, California; SAMCRO; Jax Teller. Which series is this that premiered in 2008? Hint

Question 6 of 15
6. Originally set in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, this show was about a wealthy Texas family who were oil dealers. I say 'dealer' because JR ran the show, when he could, much like a leader of a drug cartel. When he wasn't able to run Ewing Oil with autonomy, he was busy womanizing, stealing, lying, and scamming his brothers Bobby, Ray and Gary. What's the name of the series that was later rebooted on TNT in 2012? Hint

Question 7 of 15
7. My name is Rick Grimes, and I woke up inside a comic book created by Robert Kirkman. Only, everything looked like real life. At the start, I was scared and alone. When I met a man named Morgan, he helped me out and I made my way through Atlanta. There, a young man name Glenn saved my life and led me to my wife and son. In the wasteland of walkers I became a father again, killed my best friend, lost my wife, and watched my son become a man. I was the leader, most of the time, for my group of survivors. Now, I've heard there may be another group surviving in Los Angeles.

Which AMC Network series did the character above describe?
Hint

Question 8 of 15
8. Nine long seasons with Ted on the case. Barney, legen "wait for it" dary, with the chase. Marshall and Lily, and the apartment shared by all. The delightful Robin Sparkles singing in the mall. Eccentric parents and MacLaren's Pub down below. A love story to New York City, as we know. A group of pals like no other, the name of this show was "How I Met Your _______." Hint

Question 9 of 15
9. Picture it... an epic tale of warriors, thieves, con artists, royalty, and beasts of all nature. It's a fantasy world where the prize is an iron throne, and the reigning royalty was sired by twins. Created by George R.R. Martin and brought to life on HBO, what series showed us that the strong survive, hypocrisy is of the highest order, and family will not keep you safe? And, by the way, never forget that "winter is coming". Hint

Question 10 of 15
10. "So no one told you life was gonna be this way. Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A..."

The opening lines of the theme song to this popular show became stuck in the heads of Americans for ten seasons. In which sitcom did we learn to root for Rachel, laugh at Chandler, feel sorry for Ross, and shake our heads at Phoebe?
Hint

Question 11 of 15
11. A pirate, a cop, and an FBI agent walk into a bar in Maine. The cop and pirate fall in love with the FBI agent, even though she is the cause of their "troubles". The pirate buys the bar and reforms, the cop loses his job to a former WWE wrestler, and the FBI agent turns evil, at least temporarily.

Which series, named after a town, is also based on a Stephen King story called "The Colorado Kid"?
Hint

Question 12 of 15
12. Name this show, based on the following clues:

Once upon a time there was a domestic goddess. She ruled her kingdom with humor and truth. Her husband Dan was not the king, nor her daughters princesses. She worked with plastics, hair, food, and magazine sales. She had two sons, an extremely quirky mother named Bev, a cheating father, a neurotic sister, and a best friend with a misplaced southern accent. She spent an entire finale season in a fantasy induced state where they'd all won the lottery, and in the end revealed the entire series was written as per her imagination.
Hint

Question 13 of 15
13. It all started with a plane crash...

An instant hit for creator J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof, this series spun an intricate web of characters. The stories were expertly interlaced both in real life and in limbo. The survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 faced your usual post crash worries- food, water, and shelter. Then, there were also polar bears running lose, mysterious and deadly black smoke that sounded like a machine, a sealed hatch, and creepy "inhabitants" who stole people.

Which ABC hit drama was this that starred Matthew Fox, Josh Holloway, Terry O'Quinn, and Evangeline Lilly?
Hint

Question 14 of 15
14. When I talk about this series being a favorite, I'm always referring to just the first four seasons. It debuted when I was still in high-school (1990) and was about kids my age. Of course, these kids lived in an affluent section of California. In which series could you find twins from Minnesota, a rich blonde who'd had a nose job before her sophomore year, her naive best friend born on Christmas day, an arrogant jock who drove a Corvette, and a nerdy school DJ whose best friend accidentally killed himself? Hint

Question 15 of 15
15. Being a teenaged detective is never easy. Just ask Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, or the Scooby gang. There's unscrupulous law enforcement, biker gangs, classist high school rivalries, and then there's being drugged and having your best friend murdered. Nothing like an unsolved friend murder to get a girl on the case. Of course, in order to solve a mystery like who killed Lilly Kane, you have to enlist the help of your father, your best friend Wallace, the local thug you trust (Eli), and Lilly's suspicious (and rich) boyfriend Logan.

Which show spent three seasons following around a beautiful young detective played by Kristen Bell?
Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Some say that breaking up is hard to do. It seems to be less hard when your spinning off into your own vampire detective series! "Angel" began in 2000 and brought along Sunnydale residents Cordelia and Wesley. Their mission was to "help the helpless" all while fighting the deep demonic pockets of the evil law firm Wolfram & Hart. From which series did "Angel" originate?

Answer: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

"Buffy" premiered as a mid-season offering in 1997. Angel, played by David Boreanaz, was originally meant to have a short term role. Fans must have enjoyed him in season one, because he was back in force as the season two Big Bad. After a short-lived and epic love story with Buffy, Joyce Summers talked Angel into leaving town. He found his way to the City of Angels, Los Angeles, where Cordy was also working hard at becoming famous. She was not a good actress and therefore needed employment with Angel. Wesley came long about midway through season one, after the death of Doyle. Through the five seasons, Buffy, Oz, Willow and Spike all found their way onto the set of "Angel". After it ended, David Boreanaz went on to star as Booth on "Bones". In 2015, "Bones" completed its tenth season. David had been Booth longer than Angel, the role that first made him famous.

This question helped me incorporate two of my sixteen into one question, and so fitting into my fifteen question quiz.
2. And the Emmy should go to...Tatiana Maslany! Throw a bone to a clone already! She played no less than five different versions of herself in the first two seasons of this BBC America hit drama. Filmed largely in Canada, what's the name of this clone show about Sarah, Beth, Alison, Cosima, and Helena?

Answer: Orphan Black

Tatiana Maslany has done an amazing job playing so many different characters who all look like the same person. She has been so good at the roles, you never mistake one for the other. They all have their own personalities and ways of appearing, and some have interesting accents. Sarah is the main character, and in season one figured out that there were several other versions of herself walking around.

Helena was the frizzy blonde assassin who all the clones needed to be afraid of, though she was a victim herself. Cosima was the genius lesbian scientist, and Alison was the homicidal (at times) soccer mom. Sarah was the only clone to be able to give birth to her own offspring, as of the first two seasons, and that was another mystery to solve while trying to avoid capture. Season three of the series premiered in 2015, and Tatiana was finally nominated for an Emmy as well.
3. Which ABC hit show would this little poem describe best? "I jump though hoops to fix their 'oops'. I lie and scheme and steal. I love a married man, and my father is a heel. I made a Quinn and I made a Huck, my mother's a traitor (just my luck). My life's unreal. I cannot cope. Why do I survive? Because I'm Olivia Pope."

Answer: Scandal

Kerry Washington played the fixer, Olivia Pope. Olivia was the daughter of an evil duo. Her father was head of a secret organization that trained assassins for the good of the Republic. Her mother was a traitor who sold out to the highest bidder. Olivia fell in love with the married American president while running his first campaign for the presidency.

The series showed the First Lady as an ambitious cold fish, giving sympathy to the intense sexual attraction between Fitz and Olivia. When First Lady Mellie Grant's backstory unfolded, you could easily acquire compassion for her, which expertly led to a bit of cheer for Olivia's romantic involvement with Jake Ballard. Season four aired in 2014 and 2015.
4. I was a 1980s era spin-off set at Hillman College that catered to classrooms the size you'd find in an elementary school. I had a campus where people could just appear in ROTC, winning sports teams, and the most popular people were on an academic team contest. Perhaps my most intriguing storyline was the will they/won't they love story of Dwayne and Whitley, and my initial claim to fame was being linked to "The Cosby Show". Which spin-off was I?

Answer: A Different World

"A Different World" aired six seasons, from 1987-1993. Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert, brain and spoiled beauty, did fall in love and get married on the show. Dwayne's best friend Ron suddenly appeared in ROTC (highly unlikely), Dwayne just happened to get a spot on their winning baseball team (even more unlikely) and Whitley was part of an academic contest after proving she was a struggling student in some areas. What I found to be the most ridiculous facet of the show was the teeny tiny classrooms in such a sought after college. They would show about 12-15 students in any given class setting. That was entirely unbelievable to me, despite the fact that I loved this show and have watched it many times over.

"The Facts of Life" spun off of "Diff'rent Strokes", "Laverne and Shirley" off of "Happy Days", and "Empty Nest" off of "Golden Girls".
5. Five ways to describe this show- FX original series; bikers; Charming, California; SAMCRO; Jax Teller. Which series is this that premiered in 2008?

Answer: Sons of Anarchy

"Sons of Anarchy" premiered in 2008 on the FX Network. It starred Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller, the future leader of SAMCRO. SAMCRO was an acronym for Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original. It took place in the fictional town of Charming, California and told the Shakespearean tale of misguided young man who struggled to find his way amongst corrupt parental influence.

It ended its highly successful seven season run in 2014.

Answer: Dallas

The series lasted from 1978 (first season being a mini-series) until 1991. I turned 18 in 1991, so I basically grew up watching the original run. In 2012, the show was rebooted with the original characters, and some of the original actors. Larry Hagman, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy all came back, but after Hagman's death the show declined and was canceled in 2014 after its third season. "Knots Landing" was a spin-off of the show, and took place in California. Gary and Valene Ewing were the "Dallas" characters that the spin-off revolved around.

Answer: The Walking Dead

In October of 2010, AMC Network began its six episode season of "The Walking Dead". The series was an instant hit. Subsequent seasons have contained about sixteen episodes each, split up into 8 episode arcs. Sheriff Rick Grimes woke up in the hospital after being in a coma for about a month. During his "down time", the world had literally come undone.

The series was based off a comic book series by writer Robert Kirkman, who is also a producer on the TV series. In 2015 it was announced that a companion series was being filmed called "Fear the Walking Dead".

It was to be set in Los Angeles and to premier in late summer or early fall of 2015.
A group of pals like no other, the name of this show was "How I Met Your _______."

Answer: Mother

"How I Met Your Mother" aired nine extremely celebrated seasons. Fans never seemed to grow tired of the antics of five friends in their late twenties (through their thirties) figuring out life and love. Though several different homes were shown on screen, much of the first few seasons took place in the apartment shared by Marshall, Lily, and Ted.

The apartment was in a building with pub at street level, and MacLaren's Pub was seen in many scenes. Later, Robin and Ted also shared the same apartment, but it was all of theirs in a sense. Narrated by Bob Saget as an older Ted (from 2030), the story was being told to his teenaged children about how he met their mother. Fans were rewarded for patience when the mother was revealed in the eighth season, and more carried out in the ninth.

The ninth season was mainly the wedding of Barney and Robin, with flashbacks and flash forwards. The series received Emmy and People's Choice awards, and was nominated for many more.

Answer: Game of Thrones

The series aired its fifth season in 2015, and continued to tell the tale of the quest for power. You have Cersei Baratheon and Jaime Lannister, twins and also lovers. All of Cersei's living children were the product of her incestuous love affair with her brother Jaime.

Then you take their younger brother Tyrion. He was a dwarf whose birth killed their mother, insuring hatred from his family, except for Jaime. Arya Stark, youngest known daughter of Ned Stark, bent on revenge for the murder of her father and destruction of her family. Daenerys Targaryen, who became the last of her family, and who's the mother of dragons. Jon Snow, brother to Arya, and who vowed himself as warrior of the Night's Watch. Smaller players have included Stannis Baratheon, brother of former king Robert (Cersei's husband); Brienne of Tarth, dedicated knight to Renly and Catelyn; Samwell Tarly, best friend to Jon Snow, Bran and Rickon Stark, youngest Stark boys with a mission of their own; Ramsay and Roose Bolton, evil power mongers who took over Winterfell; and brothers The Mountain and The Hound, giants and mercenaries for hire/ownership.

At the end of season five it appeared that winter had arrived, and with it a hoard of "dead" beasts.
10. "So no one told you life was gonna be this way. Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A..." The opening lines of the theme song to this popular show became stuck in the heads of Americans for ten seasons. In which sitcom did we learn to root for Rachel, laugh at Chandler, feel sorry for Ross, and shake our heads at Phoebe?

Answer: Friends

This NBC series ran for ten original seasons and followed with an epic syndication deal. Unprecedented at the time for a half hour series, the cast came together as a unit to get a raise for one million dollars per episode, per person, for the final season. I think, other than the catchy theme song, I'll most remember Ross exclaiming "we were on a break" to Rachel after his one night stand.

He was forced to defend with those words on more than one occasion after that crucial mistake. The couple did not officially reunite until after the birth of their daughter Emma, also a one night stand situation. Possibly the most recognizable star to come out of her time on the show was Jennifer Aniston, who went on to enjoy an impressive movie career. Courtney Cox had success with her TV series "Cougar Town". Lisa Kudrow had many guest spots and a few of her own TV series. Matt Leblanc and Matthew Perry also enjoyed several TV shows of their own. David Schwimmer has been in front and behind the camera often since his time on the show, and played Robert Kardashian in "American Crime Story", an anthology series set to premier in late 2015.

Answer: Haven

"Haven" is a supernatural drama that debuted in 2010 on Syfy. In the introduction/opening theme to each episode, it shows that the series is based on King's story "The Colorado Kid". Haven, Maine is the home of the Troubles. A mysterious malady of initially unknown origins. People cursed with a Trouble will experience it within their family line for a certain period of time, and then it will mysteriously disappear for about 27 years. FBI agent Audrey Parker (actress Emily Rose) was co-creator of the Troubles hundreds of years earlier when her name was Mara. Every time Mara returns from "the barn", her memory is gone and the Troubles return. She is the only one completely unaffected by those Troubles, and aids people when they are cursed. Duke (actor Eric Balfour) is the local bad boy pirate, but meeting Audrey for the second time in his life changes him. He has a family Trouble of his own as well. Nate becomes the sheriff after his father's Trouble kills him. He eventually loses that job to Dwight (former WWE star Edge). Mara "returns" in season five, as evil as she ever was before, until Audrey takes her body back.

Jericho is the setting of "Jericho", Eerie of "Eerie, Indiana", and Neptune of "Veronica Mars".
12. Name this show, based on the following clues: Once upon a time there was a domestic goddess.

Answer: Roseanne

In the series finale, the fictional Roseanne admitted she'd written the entire series in her basement after the death of her husband Dan a year earlier. She'd changed some facts to suit how she saw them, including changing Jackie from gay to straight, and switching out her daughters' husbands.

She also kept Dan alive and had them win the lottery. She admitted Leon wasn't real, but an amalgam of gay men she'd known. I do not believe she ever explained why Crystal both had a misplaced southern accent in her version, or why Crystal vanished from the story without explanation.

Answer: Lost

"Lost" aired six amazing seasons, though I have heard many people complain about the final season. They said they did not understand it. The creators said it was up to interpretation, so in my view it was limbo. They were in limbo, between death and a true after-life, working out their issues. When that was complete, they all met up in a 'heavenly' church and crossed over together. "Bad Twin" was a companion book of fiction written for the show. It came out around the end of season two, and hinted at the Jacob/Man in Black connection, as they were twins. Of course, though some may disagree with me, I always thought of Jacob as the bad twin.

Terry O'Quinn (John Locke), Jorge Garcia (Hurley), and Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) all went on to star on the reboot of "Hawaii Five-O" in some form or fashion.

Answer: Beverly Hills, 90210

The show aired for ten seasons. I watched them all, but hated everything after season five. Sometimes you just want to see how it ends. My husband and I watched all ten seasons again, together on Soapnet. So, at least it's a memory I have of him. He and I also watched most of the reboot, "90210", which revolved around Erin Silver (Kelly Taylor's little sister, seen born on the original show). In the original series, the twins were Brandon and Brenda Walsh, the blonde with the nose job was Kelly Taylor, her naive friend was Donna Martin, Steve Sanders was the fairly unattractive jock who felt entitled to whatever he wanted, and David Silver (Erin's big brother) was the nerdy school DJ. His best friend Scott accidentally shot himself while playing with a handgun.

"One Tree Hill", another favorite of mine and my late husband, took place on the east coast in North Carolina.

Answer: Veronica Mars

Veronica was sneaky, inquisitive, had a biting sense of humor, and took nothing from anyone. Veronica was once a part of the Neptune High "in crowd" as the best friend of Lilly Kane (played by Amanda Seyfried). After Lilly's death, and her own drugging, Veronica left that scene behind and got real. She tirelessly searched for the truth behind Lilly's murder, fell in love with Logan Echolls, and solved the mystery of her own mom's disappearance. Three seasons was enough, and the series was canceled. Fans mourned it. Kristen Bell, being the amazing actress she is, inspired fans to donate money to show creator Rob Thomas so a movie could be made. In 2014 the "Veronica Mars" movie was released in theaters and digital format. It provided an excellent storyline to follow up any unanswered questions from the series.

Fun Fact- Kristen was the voice of Anna in the Disney animated smash success "Frozen".
