Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A humanoid woman jumps from a steep cliff inside of a cave and lands onto the surface below, but instead of succumbing to death from the fall, her body shatters into several pieces, revealing that she is an artificial lifeform.

Answer: Inheritance

The geologist named Dr. Juliana Tainer, who reveals that she was once married to Dr. Noonian Soong, is discovered to be an android herself when, while traversing the unstable corridors of the cave with Data, she is forced to jump to avoid being crushed by the collapsing ceilings. Moments later, we see the doctor's body parts scattered everywhere across the ground, the computerized components looking remarkably similar to that of Dr. Soong's android creations of the past. Fortunately, Dr. Crusher is able to put Dr. Tainer back together, but Data never tells Dr. Tainer that Dr. Soong had created her as well. That was a lot of mentions of 'doctor', wasn't it?
2. Counselor Troi is gifted a special flower that constantly alters its hue from a doctor who transports onto the Enterprise with his parents.

Answer: Haven

When the young man named Wyatt (yet another doctor!), the one who thought he was destined to be with Counselor Troi, boards the Enterprise via the Transporter Room with his parents, he gives Deanna a chameleon rose, which he says changes color depending upon the mood of the person who is holding it. We see it change from blue and various other colors to white, which is the color that it becomes the most often until the rose itself isn't seen for the remainder of the episode.
3. Picard finds himself on a planet with an alien humanoid whose words he has great difficulty understanding, the two eventually having to work together to defend themselves against a non-humanoid entity that randomly appears and vanishes at will.

Answer: Darmok

One of my favorite episodes from the fifth season sees Picard establishing first contact relations with a group of aliens whose unusual sentence constructs can't be deciphered by the Universal Translator. Instead, Picard is challenged to try to communicate with Dathon, the alien captain, after the two are transported down to a planet.

While the first test of making sense of Dathon's words is difficult enough, the second test pits the two captains against a dragon-looking entity composed of energy that appears and disappears seemingly at will. Eventually, they survive the ordeal, with Dathon triumphantly saying to Picard, "His eyes wide open!", indicating that the Enterprise's captain finally understands.
4. The bridge crew witnesses the birth of an alien newborn after the larger space-faring lifeform it emerges from is accidentally killed, the newborn eventually latching itself onto the Enterprise and draining energy from key systems.

Answer: Galaxy's Child

Perhaps the clues 'birth' and 'space-faring' made this one a dead giveaway! The non-humanoid, slug-looking alien encountered in this episode is initially presumed to be a threat when sensors detect what appears to be hostile actions on its part. Picard gives the order to fire upon the creature, which results in the alien being accidentally killed, much to the crew's dismay.

However, when a second and smaller lifeform is detected to be living inside the now-dead creature, a phaser is used to cut an incision so that the baby lifeform can emerge; in essence, the crew helps to deliver a newborn baby. Though the touching moment is brief; the baby lifeform latches itself onto the hull of the ship and begins drawing power from it, which now makes it the real threat that its mother was incorrectly presumed to be.

But thanks to ingenuity and teamwork on the part of Geordi and the real Dr. Leah Brahms (and yet another doctor!), a method of supplying the baby with nutrients is conjured up which saves the ship and its crew in the end.
5. A court trial is being held somewhere OTHER THAN on board the Enterprise in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: A Matter Of Perspective

This is a tricky one! The apparent 'murder' of the Tanugan scientist did take place inside of the laboratory on the space station...but the trial itself to prove Riker's innocence actually took place on board the Enterprise AFTER the space station blew up.

The lab and the rest of the facility end up being re-created via several simulations on the holodeck. In "Devil's Due", the trial to see if Ardra could legally continue receiving wealth and benefits from the Ventaxian people whom she terrorizes with her supposed 'supernatural powers' took place in the court room down on the Ventaxian homeworld, Data acting as arbiter and Picard acting as legal counsel against the scheming alien impostor.

The trial to prove Data's humanity in "The Measure Of A Man" is held on the starbase where Commander Phillipa Louvois acts as arbiter and Riker serving as Data's legal counsel while in "The First Duty", the court hearing concerning the death of Wesley's cadet friend on Nick Locarno's flight squadron is held at Starfleet Academy.
6. A weapon laced with poison and intended for hand-to-hand combat purposes is accidentally flung through the air, making body contact with an alien humanoid who instantly dies and must be dragged away by one of his comrades.

Answer: Code Of Honor

The spiked gloves that both Yareena and Yar were wearing during their fight in the arena were already known to have been laced with a lethal, fast-acting poison before the fight even began. Partway through, Yareena's glove is knocked out of her hand and flies through the air until one of the Ligonian guards catches it.

Unfortunately, the spikes had penetrated the guard's chest, and as the glove is placed back on Yareena's arm, the Ligonian guard dies and is then dragged away from the arena's ringside by another guard, much to the horror of Geordi, Troi, and Picard.
7. A portly alien woman with multiple arms is seen playing the piano in a bar in this episode.

Answer: Unification, Part 2

One of the more memorable scenes in this fifth-season two-part adventure occurs at the bar on the planet where Riker and his comrades are searching for the Ferengi man to question. There is a rather plump alien female--surprisingly fitted with four arms, no less!--who is playing the piano for the patrons' entertainment.

In one particularly humorous moment, Worf even asks the pianist if she knows any Klingon opera, but we would unfortunately never get to hear her playing anything beyond the musical show she's already putting on display.
8. An alien onboard a ship unlocks a sealed compartment and retrieves a vial of a corrosive liquid that is splashed onto Data's body, quickly eroding Data's uniform and eventually forcing him to change into civilian attire.

Answer: The Most Toys

Everything about that disgusting mad clown of a Fajo character disturbed me in this unforgettable episode. After taking Data prisoner and making him his latest prized 'toy', Fajo kept wanting the Enterprise's resident android to change out his uniform and into provided civilian clothes.

The maniacal alien eventually tires of Data's lack of cooperation, so he retrieves a glass vial of green substance from a locked safe inside the room and splashes it onto Data's chest. As Data's uniform quickly begins eroding, Fajo forces the dilemma of complete nakedness, which Data's modesty subroutines would surely not allow; as such, the android has changed into the provided civilian clothes by the next time the maniacal Fajo returns.
9. In the same episode, Guinan goes to crew quarters to seek medical treatment for an arm injury instead of going to sickbay while an alien humanoid ends up being a stowaway on one of the Enterprise's shuttles during an unauthorized away mission.

Answer: Suspicions

This episode is presented as a flashback, with a soon-to-be-ex-Dr. Crusher retelling her version of the events about the murder of the Ferengi scientist to Guinan, who had come to pay Beverly a personal visit in order to get treated for tennis elbow. As it turns out, the Takaran on the science team named Jo'Bril, who was believed to have been dead as well, had the ability to mask his own lifesigns, which explains why he later was able to stowaway on the shuttle Dr. Crusher escapes in without authorization in order to prove the Ferengi's theory.

After fighting off Jo'Bril, Beverly is able to make it safely back to the Enterprise, where she later learns that Guinan doesn't even play tennis at all. We can only presume, then, that the mysterious and always-wise El-Aurian purposely faked her injury in order to impart her wisdom and advice on the ship's chief medical officer.
10. Worf engages in physical hand-to-hand combat with another humanoid alien in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Eye Of The Beholder

While Worf played a prominent role in the investigation into the suicide, as well as enjoying a few romantic moments with Counselor Troi, this seventh-season episode did not feature the ship's resident Klingon warrior actually physically attacking nor being attacked by anyone.

In "The Drumhead", Worf does show off his fists after he escorts the Klingon exchange officer into his quarters, following a brief interrogation by Riker and Counselor Troi. Angered by the officer's words of insult during their Turbolift ride and through the corridor, Worf waits until the doors to the officer's quarters are sealed before he beats the officer in the stomach from behind and pins him up against a wall panel, offering a few verbal threats of his own. In "Hide And Q", shortly after Worf and his crewmates are whisked away into the wasteland inside the Q Continuum, a band of animal-looking humanoid soldiers appear, presumably created by Q as part of his 'test'.

A melee ensues, and Worf tries to mightily take out as many of the soldiers as he can before he is knocked onto the ground and the bayonet of a musket is pointed down at his neck.

Then at the end of "Chain Of Command, Part 1", Worf is fighting with one of the Cardassian guards inside the cave as he, Picard and Dr. Crusher are vigilantly trying to ward off their other assailants and enter through the doorway leading into the hidden installation. Unfortunately, only Worf and Dr. Crusher are able to enter through the door before it closes as Picard is eventually captured and taken prisoner.
